We were lucky to catch up with Alicia Burroughs recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Alicia thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. We’d love to hear about one of the craziest things you’ve experienced in your journey so far.
As the Connector, I’ve learned a very hard lesson, by a business owner and someone I thought to be a friend. This person offered to assist me with my business for which I paid for the service offered. Almost a year later the service as not been provided. As the Connector I could not believe this was happening to me. When the Connector has made an unreliable connection, it has given me a heighten sense of how I have to be more careful with my clients in doing my due diligence in ensuring the connection made for them are the right connections.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I am Alicia Burroughs, Wife, Mother and AB The Connector, in that order. I believe your personal brand is a 24-7 job, from the minute you step out the house your brand is a reflection of who you are as a person inside and out. I’ve always been a connector of people, just in the last several years I decided to start taking how and who I connect with to a different level. Previously I would connect people with no thought to how or if the connection worked out. Now I handle my connections differently. I still connect people in just casual conversation, however on a business level I connect people with the people I’ve put more research into.
How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
In 2019 I started a group of women investors, the group started with 10 members seven I knew on a personal level and three friends of friends. I thought the group should all be equal, in ideas, work ethics, investment amount, etc. However, I found out rather quickly not everyone thought the same. The pivot came when I realize the expectation as equal partners was not the same for each group member. After several months of feeling like I was the only one doing the work, I met with my mentors and atter much consideration I came to the conclusion that phasing the group out was best decision at that time and unfortunately the group was not restarted due to covid in 2020.
What’s been the best source of new clients for you?
The best source of new clients has been word of mouth, through friends, former clients and networking. This has been my most successful and effective way to obtain new clients. I’ve found networking another form of new client resources.
