We recently connected with ALICIA BURKE and have shared our conversation below.
ALICIA , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. We’d love to hear about the things you feel your parents did right and how those things have impacted your career and life.
My parents Stoney and Patti Burke raised me to be a giving and compassionate person and friend. In my career I have helped patients that haven’t been able to afford care and made sure over the years that I help as many people as possible with any health care need.
My dad worked hard and my mom worked equally as hard taking care of all of us and providing everything we needed. We were big family (6 kids )and not a lot of money. I never knew we were poor, and I never thought I couldn’t do or become whatever my heart desired. I thought I was going to be a Pittsburgh Steeler when I grew up and nobody told me I couldn’t. :)

ALICIA , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I received a basketball scholarship played college basketball and earned my BS in physical education and health . I have recreationally played softball, ran track , played football with the neighborhood boys, golf, tennis, snowboarding , water skiing and grew up in Oklahoma in the country fishing, riding bikes, motorcycles and horses.
I was also on the boys baseball team when I was 12 and after the little league tournament the opposing teams coach had one question- Which one is the girl ??
Naturally a profession in the health and fitness field suited me and I decided to become a Doctor of chiropractic. I can relate to most aches and pains of an athlete and of patients that have desk jobs.
Im most proud of my ability to master the art of the adjustment. It’s a skill to listen to the patient find and fix the issues patient come in for and then guide them to understanding their body, their body mechanics and long term wellness.
I make sure my patients know everything is possible and fixable and If not with me we can find the care they needwith a medical referral. I have a great team of Doctors That I have relationships with and have refer to for 25 + years

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
IN 2007 I started a Multi specialty clinic – the recession of 2008, the film industry went on strike, people were losing thier homes times were hard for most people and industries.
Prior to starting this office I was a solo practitioner. I worked long hours, provided the best care and survived recession and the strike. At that at time decided to return to solo practice. I learned, not everyone has good work ethic or boundaries and that was something that was important as a healthcare provider.
THEN … the pandemic hit same story different decade- Same story we survived .
3 years into returning, my mom died. I got breast cancer surgery and came back to work working 3 days later.
REsilience – everything is possible is all I know.

Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
Do good work and the patients will come.
