We were lucky to catch up with Alice Von Simson recently and have shared our conversation below.

Alice, appreciate you joining us today. Let’s start big picture – what are some of biggest trends you are seeing in your industry?

Hair extensions are a huge trend. Win the 90s they were a guilty secret but now everyone is loud and proud, openly discussing their latest weave!
Out of all the services that we perform, this is the one that I feel has the most instant effect on self esteem. You can tell our clients feel ten feet tall as soon as those luscious locks are on their head. Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.

We are a boutique hair and beauty team of besties serving San Diego brides and extension clients. Having worked together for years, we have each other’s backs and combine our skill sets to ensure our clients get the best results possible.

We specialize in weddings, offering hairstyling, updos, airbrush makeup and more. We’ve been perfecting our craft in weddings since 2013, making this our true niche. Our brides and regular clients also love our hair extensions and we offer clip-ins, sew-ins and invisible beaded wefts.

One of the best parts of our service is the trial runs before the wedding. There’s lots of champagne, and we love getting to know our brides personally. Not only do we make them look beautiful, but we also ensure they feel like they have a friend in the room on their big day.

What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?

I think we built a solid reputation by always being aware of the immense responsibility of working in the wedding industry. Weddings are one of those milestone events that will never be forgotten. Our clients have spent thousands of dollars and hundreds of hours planning their special day. As the first vendors to show up we set the tone. By arriving early, with great enthusiasm and knocking our part out of the park, we set the stage for how they are going to feel for the rest of the day.

Do you have any insights you can share related to maintaining high team morale?

My goal is always that each person feels in charge of their own destiny. We are a small team and each has their own life outside of work. Each stylist picks and chooses what dates they want to work and that means no one ever feels resentful about being there. We politely decline any jobs that don’t sound fun to us as we always want to show up with 100% enthusiasm. If one of us finds a great new technique or service or just has a great idea about how we can improve the client experience we are all here for it.
