Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Alice Su. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alice, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Can you talk to us about a risk you’ve taken – walk us through the story?
The best things in life come from taking risks.
One of the biggest risks I’ve ever taken in my life was one of the best decisions I have ever made. The decision to become an independent hair artist. Graduating with my degree in business then going right in to hair school to being an entrepreneur /studio owner and now opening my very own salon.
It all starts with taking a risk or what I like to think is more like a leap of faith. It’s not about always knowing everything or knowing exactly how to get to your end goal but rather breaking it all down in to smaller/more achievable goals and making the conscious decision every day to show up everyday and commit to taking action. To silence the negative thoughts, falling in to the habit that is overthinking, or maybe even outside voices that make you doubt yourself.
taking that leap can lead you to a point is more about trusting in yourself. Trusting that you have it in you and will do what it takes to succeed. Changing the internal dialogue, tuning out the outside influences, building up yourself and your boundaries. Having tenacity, focus, determination, ambition along with taking that leap has lead you to a point in your life that you used to only dream about. I know it did for me..
Manifestation/visualization and hard work will energetically create opportunities for the risk takers. Fortune favors the risk takers.
Take that risk. There is no such thing as failing. Even if things don’t work out the way you imagined you will be more knowledgeable and experienced in life and that’s always a win.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
My brand is both about self expression and self love. Owning your magic. Loving yourself both inside and outside. Fellow artists and clients alike. That is the most fulfilling part about my career, helping my clients truly shine and feel like their best true selves. My goal is always to connect with each person that I come across and to really allow them to get comfortable and become more confident while making subtle or drastic changes to their outer appearance. I am a color specialist and more specifically I specialize in creating rainbow hair / vivid color creations. If I had to be honest I feel like I’m more in to the healing side of this industry. We as stylists have such a unique opportunity to connect with the people in our chairs and to really make an impact on their lives, big and small. We have the power to make someone’s life better and that shouldn’t be overlooked so easily. That is powerful and we should treat it as such. Knowing that energy transfers and flows so easily and it’s our responsibility to spread as much light and positivity into this world as we can. Every interaction is important.
I also like to create a space/environment that feels safe. A place that people are able to be authentic and relaxed. Sometimes salons can me stuffy or more transactional and I want my space to provide the exact opposite of that. My salon is in an area that can be a bit more on the conservative side and I wanted to build a space to escape that. Let’s call it a beacon, a flag for all people that are craving something fun, bold, and different, either with their hair or their salon experience.

Are there any books, videos or other content that you feel have meaningfully impacted your thinking?
Researching and reading entrepreneurship books as well as self improvement books as been essential to my success. We are always evolving and learning. In our industries/at our craft and in life. And the lessons usually go hand in hand. The most valuable asset I gained was the growth mindset. Learning the power of my mind. It all ends and begins with my own thoughts. I am the creator of my reality.
Some of my favorite books that I would recommend
Think and Grow Rich – Napoleon Hill
The Psychology of Money – Morgan Housel
The Introvert Entrepreneur- Beth L. Buelow
Breaking the Habit of Being Yourself – Dr. Joe Dispenza
Becoming Supernatural – Dr. Joe Dispenza
The Four Agreements – Don Miguel Ruiz
The Alchemist – Paulo Coelho

Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
My best advice for building your social media presence is authenticity authenticity authenticity. Since day one I noticed that being authentic is what gets you noticed. People can feel that energy through the screen. People crave real and raw. The days of staged, perfect posts and “influencers” are over and that just reinforces the fact that the viewers want more genuine interactions. If it’s sharing fun new information or technique , sharing a useful hair trick or must have hair product, the viewers want real. Just be yourself! The saying that you should be yourself because your never know who it’ll resonate with is now truer more that ever. So own your magic and shine bright bbs!!! Find your tribe.
