Alice, appreciate you joining us today. Almost all entrepreneurs have had to decide whether to start now or later? There are always pros and cons for waiting and so we’d love to hear what you think about your decision in retrospect. If you could go back in time, would you have started your business sooner, later or at the exact time you started?
I honestly wish I could have started my business sooner, but I believe everything happened when it was supposed to happen. I started my business in August of 2019. I was in the Army before I started my business and had a dream of doing 20 years and retire. I was diagnosed with cervical cancer and the treatment caused complications. I ended up getting medically retired from the Army. Because of that I had to come up with a new dream and that was owning my own business. I think that if I had started sooner in my business, things wouldn’t be where they are now. I believe everything fell in line for me, because it was the right time. I wouldn’t change anything about my experiences. Everything that I have been through has help me and my business get to where I am now! Looking back, I would have started at the same time.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I am a wife and mother of 8 children. I medically retired from the Army after complications from cervical cancer. I got into my industry, because I have always had a love for cooking and baking. Once I medically retired from the Army, I had to come up with a new plan for my life. Since I loved baking, I decided to start my own cupcake bakery. I make different flavored cupcakes, cookies, brownies, pound cakes and chocolate covered treats. I think what sets me apart from others is that all my products are made from scratch, and I try to create products that people would love! I am most proud of trusting God and starting my business. I want potential clients and followers to know that I put all my love in my products and that’s what make them taste so great! Try them for yourself, I promise you want be disappointed.
How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
I believe that having great products and customer service skills, helped build my reputation within my market. Everyone loves tasty treats and if you can provide that, people will tell others.
What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?
Social media has been the best source of new clients for me. Posting pictures and videos of my products on social media platforms is a great way to bring in new clients, because your friends share your stuff with their friends and so on. Also, when your clients post about your products and give reviews, that makes other people want to try your products.
