Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Ali Mohamed. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Ali, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Before we get into specifics, let’s talk about success more generally. What do you think it takes to be successful?
Success doesn’t happen overnight and it won’t happen just because you know someone. You gotta be prepared everyday for any opportunity that comes your way. Stop messing around. Stay home for a whole summer to prepare for what you got coming next. Stop complaining and spending more money than what you have. Build upon yourself and expect to fail 100 times before something finally hits. If you’re reading this, you got too much time on your hands. Make a move while you’re still young.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I do vfx for musical artists that need a lil flare in their videos. Sometimes a clean cut video just doesn’t hold peoples attention like it used to. People want to see crazy effects and interesting story telling with solid transitions. At the end of the day, the music itself is what people want. I am also a producer. I sell beats and work on vfx at the same time. Making music has always been a peaceful experience for me and its nice to earn some streaming money from it as well. Two directors that I always work with are @chriscameraguy and @j_moncrief These two are the goats of film making. Give them a follow.
Are there any books, videos, essays or other resources that have significantly impacted your management and entrepreneurial thinking and philosophy?
Theres a lot of content on youtube that has been helpful in my career. Basically everything I know either came from youtube or my brother @chriscameraguy. Sometimes all you need is a little motivation. Looking at the competition like lyrical lemonade and his techniques with videos and outsourcing 3d artists really makes you think about how teamwork actually benefits everyone.
Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
I had a following from the beats I was selling, but I would say starting a podcast helped build my reputation. All the jokes and smart comments let people know I’m a real person with a positive attitude. Not everyone is willing to give their hard earned money away without knowing something about me or checking my page. This gives them insight on the different things I believe in or like. People have asked me to get back on the mic since its been a while but maybe 25 episodes was enough we’ll see haha. Im lucky we didn’t get cancelled. Go ahead and follow @ThePodPodBros while you’re here.
