Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Ali Moat. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Ali, appreciate you joining us today. If you could go back in time do you wish you had started your creative career sooner or later?
I started doing hair at age 23 and while that may be a little later of a start in this industry, I wouldn’t change a thing. I went to university for 3 years before cosmetology school. I spent a lot of my early 20’s trying new things and trying to figure out what I wanted to do with my life and I believe that all that made me appreciate my career even more. I can’t say that I would have that understanding about how important it is for me to do something I love for a career if I didn’t try some jobs that just were not for me. It made me realize that I needed to do something I was passionate about and loved doing everyday.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I went to cosmetology school at Regency Beauty School 8 years ago, and started at Coles Salon and Spa right after I graduated. I am an advanced designer and I specialize in color + extensions. Something that I’m most proud of is the advanced education I continue to do. I am always learning new techniques + trends to be able to give my guests the absolute best!
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
Not only do I get to do something I love everyday, but I get to help people. It might be helping them feel their best, or helping them through a difficult time in their life but I get to be there for people and that’s one of my favorite parts of the job. It’s so rewarding making a difference in people’s lives.
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
I look at my social media as a part time job. I would not be where I am today without my instagram. I have found that being consistent is one of the most important things. Also, posting what you love to do! I feel like I have created my dream schedule by focusing on that. My favorite things to do are balayages, blondes, and extensions so that’s what I post about the most!
