We were lucky to catch up with Alhaitham Jassar recently and have shared our conversation below.

Alright, Alhaitham thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Can you talk to us about how you learned to do what you do?

I believe that art is a continuous journey rather than a mere destination. It is not simply a matter of “learning” art, obtaining a diploma, and immediately becoming a successful artist. My personal artistic journey commenced at a young age, even before I learned how to read or write. Throughout my upbringing, my passion for drawing and painting remained deeply ingrained in my heart. In addition to the typical art classes I attended in school, my enthusiasm for acquiring knowledge led me to delve into books, websites, and journals, especially during my high school years. It was during my time at university that I began honing my skills in oil painting techniques, engaging in vital experimentation to explore various methods and approaches, such as color mixing, canvas preparation, tool maintenance and usage, as well as art photography. I draw immense inspiration from esteemed artists, both from the old masterworks like the Dutch master landscapes and from contemporary realism masters. Absorbing inspiration from these accomplished figures is an integral aspect of my creative journey. I consider my artistic journey to be ongoing, spanning the entirety of my life.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.

I am AJ, and I established JassarBrush.com as the face for my art services, specializing in paintings and illustrations across both digital and traditional mediums. Drawing inspiration from the wonders of nature, my objective is to capture and convey its beauty and awe onto the canvas. In recent years, my artistic focus has centered on marine art and the captivating world beneath the waves, ranging from the depths of the ocean to serene rivers. To showcase my work, I have actively participated in numerous art shows and exhibitions. As I often convey to my collectors, the enjoyment of warm waters and marine life is not limited to those residing in Florida. My repertoire encompasses a diverse range of art forms, including oil and acrylic paintings, murals, drawings, and digital illustrations. I offer paintings from my existing collection for purchase, as well as accept commission requests from clients.

Is there mission driving your creative journey?

I am deeply passionate about ocean conservation. The aquatic ecosystems of our planet face significant threats and are incredibly delicate. My earnest aspiration is that through my paintings, I can raise awareness about this pressing issue. This added purpose gives profound meaning to my art, and it is my sincere hope that both collectors and viewers can appreciate this intention within my work.

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?

Seeing the profound reactions of people as they engage with my art, witnessing their awe and smiles, is an immensely gratifying experience and undeniably the most fulfilling aspect of being an artist. I distinctly recall the delightful reactions of children who encountered my shark paintings during one of my exhibitions. Their excitement as they eagerly attempted to identify the species of sharks filled me with joy and hope for the future.
