We were lucky to catch up with Alfredo Navarro recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alfredo , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today We’d love to hear about a project that you’ve worked on that’s meant a lot to you.
Having made our very first international cover, with national production and in such a sacred place of the Colombian territory as it is the Cocuy National park, has been a landmark and milestone for the Caracal. We are making the difference by daring to position Colombia on the world’s map of fashion and to show that there is not only modeling talent but also in the creative teams; the agencies.
We are going beyond artistic and professional with fashion, we are looking into transmitting a message with a strong social activism focus. Cazaran, the Colombian model in the cover, has been discriminated against in her childhood for her afro-indigenous features. We wanted to make a special recognition of those ethnic roots and the diversity of the country, through fashion, sending messages across different generations, especially now surrounded with countless beauty stereotypes.

Alfredo , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
To me, Alfredo Navarro actions’s speak for themselves, better than any words. My vision and goal is to focus on retributing to this industry, to make it better and more human, that is our flag and is why we make a difference.
I started in the fashion industry when I was a child. Whilst preparing and studying before starting to work as a model and actor and even casting in Barranquilla, my home city, I started to manage background actors and support the production staff for some television and fashion commercials. I also contributed to the development of some new faces models, like my cousin or my close friends.
I am the director of the modeling agency Caracal Management, an artistic representation company for models and talents, which I founded in 2016. We are focused on personal administration and general management of the career needs of our representatives, creating and designing customized strategies to contribute to the maximum to their development. We have 3 divisions:
CARACAL MODEL DIVISION
International Editorial Division is a parent agency focused on career management of professional, editorial and commercial models, with emphasis on the search for new talents, their career development and subsequently, their location in national and international markets.
In this division you will find casting service of international models, event production, press service and public relations, marketing and advertising, makeup and costumes.
CARACAL TALENT DIVISION
Commercial division of casting service in Colombia, focused on bringing directors, producers, photographers, brands, TV channels, models, actors, among others, to our database or talent boutique. This division is responsible for the national processes related to the use of image, photography, video and others, of each of the talents through contracts, use of rights, territory, extensions, among other attachments.
In this division you will find models for audiovisual projects, models for catwalk and/or product image, fairs and events, makeup and costumes, as well as physical and psychological trainers.
CARACAL SCOUTING DIVISION
Subdivision of Caracal Model Management with the aim of finding new faces, mainly in national territory, helping them to get initiated, developing the image process of each model and establishing successful careers at both national and international levels. We also present these new faces to major procurement markets and coordinate their overseas location.
In this division you will find search for new faces talents, negotiation of models by requirement, coach and training, image consulting, academy and training schools.
I’m proud of the family we’ve built. We have found a balance, keeping professional relationships with values and ethics, making Caracal the home of our representatives. For people who follow our work from anywhere in the world, we want to encourage them to join this human revolution of artistic representation for models and talents.

We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
My most important lesson has been to learn how to flow and to respect authority. The only way to be heard is to amplify your voice. Nobody cares about your story until you win. Here is why I work everyday to strengthen my voice and the voice of the ones I represent. Here is how you make a difference.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The most rewarding thing is the prospect of retribution to boost human development through the arts.
