Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Alfredo Carrasquillo. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Alfredo thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. To kick things off, we’d love to hear about things you or your brand do that diverge from the industry standard
Many consulting firms focus on making clients dependent on the services and support they offer. And those services tend to be pretty generic using the same formula to serve different clients. We have made a different ethical choice: all our services are tailored to the particular needs of each client and our strategy is centered in transferring and sharing our expertise with them so that they can keep going without needing us in the future. Our methodology is simple yet rigorous, encompassing three key steps: research, planning, and implementation. First, we engage in deep listening with our clients, gathering diverse perspectives to formulate robust solutions. This phase involves asking tough questions, pushing teams out of their comfort zones, and extracting essential information to build solid foundations for addressing challenges. Second, we assist in designing and planning solutions. These are tailored to the organizational complexity, its leaders, and its teams, encompassing necessary interventions and methodological strategies. Finally, the designed solutions are implemented, as I mentioned, with a focus on transferring knowledge and developing skills necessary for the organizational teams to manage the change process themselves. Recognizing that our engagement with each client is finite, we deeply respect and admire their strategic capabilities, ensuring they’re equipped for continued success post our partnership.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I am an executive leadership coach and organizational development consultant. I am the founder and leader of ACCO Advisory Group where we champion the creation of environments that foster the growth of teams and individuals by transforming talent and culture, recognizing them as vital catalysts in executing organizational strategy. For 27 years now, I have been a leading executive coach, psychoanalyst and business advisor serving over two-hundred clients in fourteen countries across the globe. I am honored to serve companies when they are identifying and training successors for their top leadership roles; when teams require inspiration and training to build trust and collaborate more effectively; when family businesses and board of directors find themselves at an impasse and need to have difficult conversations; and when leadership teams need to assess the complexity of their challenges in order to map out successful strategies. It is a privilege to be a thinking partner to so many great leaders and teams who are making a difference in their respective fields!

What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
Generosity in sharing our expertise and always being there for our clients have been, in my opinion, key elements in building our reputation.

What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
As consultants we tend to believe that we are paid for what we know and for the value we add with our expertise. As a leadership coach and organizational development consultant I have learned that there is something even more important, namely, nurturing the capabilities of our clients to produce knowledge and expertise themselves and being a witness of that value production.
