We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Alfonso Aguirre. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Alfonso below.
Alfonso, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Have you signed with an agent or manager? Why or why not?
I truly believe that while you can do some things on your own, it is absolutely necessary to surround yourself with the right people in order to achieve anything.
I am very grateful to have an amazing team of people in different regions. It all started in Texas, where I am represented by Addie Eckert Brown, Erica Battle and now also Beth Tamez at Page Parkes. I did some acting when I was in high school, but I put that on hold because I wanted to pursue a career in music. So years later, when I returned to it, I made up my mind and decided to fully commit to my career. I think they saw that.
A little while after I started booking acting jobs in Texas, I had the opportunity to audition for agencies in other markets, and eventually I was signed by Evolve Artists Agency in Los Angeles, DDO Artists Agency in Atlanta and the South East, and most recently, 10MGMT in Chicago and the mid west. I am also managed by Monroe Talent Management in Los Angeles. So another big thank you goes to Taylor, Loren, Haley, Candace, Jaclyn and Victoria.
I have learned to have good communication with all my representatives and this has allowed me to continue getting some very exciting opportunities in all these markets, and I am so grateful for every single one.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I am a full time actor represented in different markets for film, television and commercial projects. I’ve done a few short films, web projects and several national and regional commercials.
I was also a co-star in an episode of season 6 of Better Call Saul in a scene with Giancarlo Esposito, who plays Gus Fring in the Breaking Bad universe. It was an amazing experience that I will never forget.
I also teach and coach actors auditioning for projects in all markets, and currently have active students in California, New York, Texas, New Mexico, Louisiana, Arizona, Michigan and Florida. I offer one-on-one classes tailored to the level of my students and also help other practice and film their auditions.

Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
Something I had to unlearn was thinking that I had to do everything perfectly, and that I had to please others. It just put so much pressure on me. I feel that the most important thing an actor must always remember is that there is very little we can control in this business. The only thing we can control is enjoying the time we are performing, whether in a self taped audition or on set. If you try to please everyone, you will fail and it will make you miserable. Seeking approval kills your joy. The moment I stopped worrying about how my audition would be perceived, I started enjoying acting more, and I started booking.

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
Auditioning for exciting projects is nice. Booking acting jobs is great. Traveling for commercials, shows or films is fun. But to me, the most rewarding aspect of this journey has been meeting fellow creative people. Some of them have become really important in my life, and there is something very special in finding your tribe, you know? People who appreciate you and support you following your passion. Life is short, so I believe wholeheartedly that we must pursue the things that bring joy to our hearts. To have people who appreciate you and support your journey is absolutely priceless.
