We recently connected with Aleyni Brown and have shared our conversation below.
Aleyni , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today How do you feel about asking friends and family to support your business? What’s appropriate, what’s not? Where do you draw the line?
Support is the pillar of success. Not only family and friends, but global. Pushing out quality hair and services. Tapping into curl patterns that match my sisters. Providing services that creates growth and protects hair. Helping clients embrace their curl pattern or straighten their hair without relaxers. Being able to provide services for people I have great relationships like Macey and Hailey. Diversity is a beautiful thing and everyone is welcomed.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I have been a hairstylist for over a decade. Throughout this time and gaining more clientele, it found it easier for both parties when I provide the hair. Aleyni’s Hair has 5 star rating and has been worn by some of your favorite reality tv stars. I want to push this brand to me independent women. To my lawyers, nurses, doctors, mothers, dancers, athletic, and more. Sometime our hair is out alter ego. It allows us to express ourselves. I love seeing a client walk out fierce and confident. Not only are you getting 5 star services but also 5 star hair. Hair that you can reuse. I prove three qualities for different budgets and looks. I provide the best bundles, I tips, hand made wig, coloring, and installs. Also trained and license cosmetologist that has experience and success with natural hair, curly and straight.

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
I am a woman (black woman) against statistics. The high ratio of teen pregnancy, domestic violence, single parent home, low income, employment, and affordable education. After my grandfather I also graduated from GRAMBLING state university. I was apart of our Nation Guard Army as an E-4. I overcame domestic violence and retained my cosmetology license. Resilience is not what’s thrown at you but how you overcome it. I have a lot stacked against me. Sometimes gaining support is hard but I love what I do. Resilience is waking up everyday believing in yourself, your life, and your business. Excelling past the narrative. I am a single mother and I am more than grateful to be able to provide for her. Show her how to plant a seed into the ground and putting in work to help it grow. Learning discipline is a everyday thing and integrity is something I stand on, Aleyni’s hair and beauty is the picture of perseverance.

How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
A Pivot in my career is when I began taking classes under celebrity stylist. Jonathan the hairstylist, Olivia song the makeup artist, Shelsea the makeup artist. Going to Beacon events nestling world rebound colorist and cutters. Also having the pleasure to work of Duffey of basketball wives. Lollipop with Joseline’s Cabernet. Female rap artist Nina, and so much more. Watching them be in my grand and wearing my hair is amazing. Not only them but clients I have had for years. Their support is unmeasured. They have been loyal and loving and I appreciate them so much. I love seeing the color, inches, and everything. Being able to provide wigs, bundles, I tips, and hd frontals is an amazing feeling. Now I am able to take my experience and give to others. I am providing one on one classes. I’m the near future there will be group classes. The sky is the limit and I’m determined. I love to show myself and people like me and not like me anything is possible. Some roads take longer than others but enjoy the view.
