We were lucky to catch up with Aleyna “Lele” Jones recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Aleyna “Lele” thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Can you open up about a risk you’ve taken – what it was like taking that risk, why you took the risk and how it turned out?
During the pandemic, I took the biggest risk by following my dream – to dive deep into holistic healing practices to improve my mind, body, and soul. As a small business owner, I received a loan from the U.S. Small Business Administration to invest in becoming a health coach in October 2020. Using the loan to pay tuition, I spent the rest of 2020 studying at the Institute for Integrative Nutrition, the world’s largest program. After a full year of working toward my goal part-time, I became a certified Integrative Nutrition Health Coach on October 5, 2021. Since then, I’ve taught 20 community yoga classes, received five yoga certifications, and worked in a hot yoga studio!
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
After hosting an LA-based yoga class in 2017, I realized something—the wellness community was missing a holistic health coach. A native of Sacramento, I decided that I needed to start my goals in my new hometown of San Diego. I moved to San Diego in 2018 to reach my community and redirected my mission to offer health coaching, yoga, and nutrition both in-person and online. As a result, I’ve secured my spot in local publications such as the SD Voyager, Shoutout Socal, and more.
As an Integrative Nutrition Health Coach, I work as a private yoga instructor based in Downtown San Diego. I’m the founder of Wellness With Lele, a health and fitness company, and the creator of the WWL Method, a six-pillar guide to holistic health. After 15 years of practicing yoga, I became a certified Yoga Alliance instructor in 2022. Now, I specialize in teaching Power Flow, Rocket Yoga, Hot 26, Hot Fusion, and Yoga Sculpt. My mission as a holistic healer is simple: to show my clients that their wellness is worth it.
Can you talk to us about your experience with buying businesses?
Funny story: I actually acquired my current business from my former manager. After I started working as a senior fitness instructor for a local business owner last year, I virtually ran the business on my own. From teaching classes to dealing with schedule changes and managing clients, his business became my business. At one point, I was even managing my own invoicing directly with my corporate clients. That’s when my manager told me he was stepping away from his business, and encouraged me to keep it running on my own. Since then, I’ve expanded to offer private yoga, senior fitness, and even corporate hot yoga services to the San Diego community at large.
What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?
The most effective strategy to keep clients coming back is to truly get to know them – their names, their faces, and their stories. Learn their husband or wives’ names, or ask them how many children they have. Even pet names are important. Once you show them you care about who they are, they will feel more connected to you as a guide, and therefore more connected to your mission. There’s no better feeling than that!
