We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Alexus Murray. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Alexus below.
Hi Alexus, thanks for joining us today. Alright, so we’d love to hear about how you got your first client or customer. What’s the story?
I was in high school working at Today’s Faces in Buford Ga, when Adrienne, the owner decided to host a catching clinic and she asked me to work it. It was myself, and a couple other girls in college. Devon signed up for the clinic and we hit it off instantly. When I got back home from college she became my first client and I was with her all the way until signing day when she signed to play at Lander University!

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I am a softball catching instructor. I was a catcher from middle school all the way until college. I realized there was no catching instructors in the area and it was something I could bring to the area. What make me stand out is my experience behind the plate and the ability to connect and work with kids of all ages.

Alright – let’s talk about marketing or sales – do you have any fun stories about a risk you’ve taken or something else exciting on the sales and marketing side?
This year I had my first group of kids go off to college and I wanted to create a scholarship opportunity for them. I created a camp for catchers of all ages to come to and learn from those getting ready to go play at the highest level. It was myself first time putting something like this together but I found sponsors that were more than willing to help me pull this off and ended up giving each athlete almost $500 a piece. It’s my greatest accomplishment thus far.

Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
Softball is my part-time job, as I work full-time still. When I started I was having a hard time balancing both. I had people that wanted me to start earlier in the day and I wasn’t getting off work until after 5pm. I had to pivot, find a hybrid/ work from home role which allowed me to pour into softball more and have the flexibility of coming in earlier if I needed to.
