We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Alexsandra Dattilo. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Alexsandra below.
Alright, Alexsandra thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. It’s always helpful to hear about times when someone’s had to take a risk – how did they think through the decision, why did they take the risk, and what ended up happening. We’d love to hear about a risk you’ve taken.
The biggest risk that was taken was when my fiance had brought me home full time to become an artist. We weren’t sure if Open Idea’s Acrylic would actually take off or not due to me not having a very big networ, so there was always the risk of having to go back to working for someone else, to another company. Which his goal was to not let that happen after I had taken so many years of work related abuse. He could see what was hidden beneath my talents that I was noy quite sure of yet. With his help and encouragement, I took the leap to try a pet portrait of our personal dog Sitka, thankfully it was a niche that I never thought was a capability of mine! I had so much fun and loved how I felt after seeing the finished product!
Best risk I’ve ever taken

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I’m Alexsandra Dattilo, the creative force driving Open Idea’s Acrylic. Setting off on an exhilarating artistic adventure in 2022, I’ve been fervently exploring the boundless potential of acrylics to shape mesmerizing works of art. My artistic niche lies in the enchanting realm of pet portraits, where I capture the essence of beloved animals. Anybody who has a animal companion know when it comes to picking a photo it almost impossible! So I offer my help by letting them send me as many photos as they want and I will pick a personal favorite that way it is a surprise to my client as well! I like to think the commitment and love I put into my portraits is what sets me apart from everyone else. I also pay big attention to the eyes of the animal. They cant speak with words, but throught their eyes. Additionally, I delve into the realm of alluring silhouettes, crafting evocative pieces that ignite the imagination. Most notably, I possess the unique ability to materialize abstract ideas into tangible artworks, fearlessly pushing the boundaries of creativity. Guided by my discerning eye and unwavering commitment, there are no limits to what I can achieve—each creation springs to life as long as I find inspiration to fuel its existence.

Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
A particular goal that has been set is with in the next few years I would love for almost all of my friends and family to have some type of artwork done by me displayed in their house, that way if anyone they know goes over and sees the piece that is displayed my business can be shared via word as well as the story behind the artwork

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
The most rewarding aspect of being an artist, is getting to see the emotion and reactions on my clients face when they see their one of a kind piece of artwork. Photos that are shared do no justice for the physical piece and to watch and see them overlooking the unique piece they have gotten is beyond rewarding for me
