We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Alexis Trischler a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Alexis , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today How did you come up with the idea for your business?

I came up with the idea to create my project ‘The Seen Project’ after dealing with Mental Health (Anxiety & Depression) along with an invisible illness (Polycystic Kidney Disease) for the vast majority of my adolescence. I started my project back on March 18th, 2024 at the age of 16. I am now 17 and have accomplished so much. I gained so much confidence and skills that I was too scared to test out before founding my project. Growing up I was always afraid to talk about my mental health due to the stigma and fear of being seen as “different”. I don’t want any young kids feeling the way I did. That’s why I created ‘The Seen Project’. My project is aimed at kids and teens, but I like to think that it’s a resource that everyone can use to feel SEEN and UNDERSTOOD.

Alexis , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?

The Seen Project is a resource that I created after having first-hand experience with the complications due to the stigma that surrounds mental health. The Seen Project isn’t just about mental health but is also based on invisible illnesses. I post about different mental health and invisible illness diagnoses so that I can help as many people as possible feel SEEN. I also post quotes and uplifting posts so I can help people feel the extra boost they need to get through the day!

I have been featured on multiple talk & radio shows, my ultimate goal is to have the opportunity to speak with elementary school children about mental health and spreading kindness and love.

Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?

A pivotal moment in my project was mainly before my project. I have always wanted to found something that would be a positive change. It wasn’t until February 2024 that I finally had the confidence to chase this dream to see where it would lead me. I started this project on a whim and had low expectations of it taking off the way it did. My project has grown to over 800 followers and has followers from Australia! I have met many friends, collaborated with some amazing people and then learned some very valuable life lessons.

How did you build your audience on social media?

I created my project on Instagram, which is still my main foundation and platform. I have expanded to Facebook and TikTok, and created a website and a podcast! I’ve taken it all one step at a time so that I don’t overwhelm myself. However, the success was overwhelming but I am truly grateful!
