We were lucky to catch up with Alexis Spanevello recently and have shared our conversation below.

Alexis , looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Can you talk to us about a risk you’ve taken – walk us through the story?

It may seem like the obvious answer in an interview like this, but the creation and cultivation of my company Metanoia has been by far the biggest risk – and reward – I have ever taken and experienced in my life.

The word Metanoia speaks to the transformation or metamorphosis of one’s mind, perspective, and/or way of life. I first learned of this word in my youth and continued to carry it’s inspiration with me into adulthood.

While out-of-the-box ideas continue to become more and more accepted throughout our communities, I would very quickly realize that implementing these ideas in a professional setting in hopes of building a flourishing business would take allot of trust and courage in myself.

Although I have spent the larger portion of my life seeking knowledge and skills through education and practice, all of my passions wouldn’t fully come together in a business format until the end of 2020 when I felt an urgent push to start Metanoia.

There are not many things as risky as dropping every sense of stability and starting your own business at the peak of a worldwide pandemic but here we are. Somehow, I knew my community was not only ready but desperately needed me to step forward and share what I had to offer.

I didn’t have access to start-up loans or well-established investors like many new businesses and had to work overtime to fund my endeavors out of pocket. Every single aspect of my business is 100% created, funded, and executed by me personally, from the inspiration, creation, and development of the Metanoia Intentional Tea Blends and Goddess Products to the one-on-one Metanoia Zoning appointments, and of course the Metanoia Harp music and vocals.

While the journey has not been easy to say the least, I can honestly say that I would take the risk over and over again to share Metanoia with the world. The personal and professional growth I have experienced in myself and been honored to witness in my amazing clients has been nothing short of astounding, and I look forward to the ability to share all the magic with the entire community in the years to come.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?

I have always been the type to be passionate about multiple things throughout my life. Art, music, science, and beauty have continually fueled my personal and professional endeavors. That being said I may as well list a few of the earned titles that I have accumulated to create my business. I am a Professional Harpist, Licensed Cosmetologist, Skin/Hair/Makeup specialist, Certified Back and Foot Zonologist, and most recently completed my first Science degree. I have worked in a multitude of settings throughout the art, health, and beauty community with over 17 years of collective experience. I specialize in holistic healing, organic beauty products, and empowerment through art, music, and classical studies.

Metanoia has three dimensions: Metanoia Zone, Metanoia Goddess, and Metanoia Harp.

Metanoia Zone – as a certified Zonolist I offer one-on-one Zoning sessions (Zoning is a modality akin to advanced reflexology) to promote overall transformation, healing, and growth.

Metanoia Goddess – I have created a full line of Goddess Products – handmade, organic, and ethically sourced beauty products and Intentional Tea blends backed by research and science. These products cover everything from scalp health and hair growth to reversing the signs of aging and protecting and enhancing on a spiritual level without the use of chemicals/additives/or byproducts.

Metanoia Harp – My work as a professional harpist with Metanoia Harp highlights my music which can be found on all the streaming platforms. In addition, I make time for projects that inspire me as a musician for hire doing special events and weddings and have most recently facilitated relaxation and healing with live Harp music and vocals in Water Immersion Sound Bath events.

Have you ever had to pivot?

It would be doing a disservice if I didn’t discuss how my own struggles had helped to guide me in building Metanoia.

A diagnosis of Chronic Lyme disease early in my life of course added significant difficulties but forced me to change my way of thinking and always be open to new ideas. Navigating this throughout the course of my adulthood put me in rooms with some of the most inspired and practiced holistic healers, herbalists, and scientists. I would learn from them as I searched for my own relief and use what I had found to fuel the creation of my own techniques and products.

The chemical exposure I experienced while working in the mainstream beauty industry took a serious toll on my own health, forcing me to re-evaluate not only what products I was exposing myself to, but what products I was exposing my clients to. This prompted a deep dive into organic beauty and time honored scientifically proven herbal methods that inspired the Metanoia Goddess products.

Looking back I wish I could have told my younger self how much simpler life could be and how you truly do not have to compromise dramatic results or beauty for your own health and well being.

Being true to myself changed the game for me – and brought forth amazing opportunities to truly see, create, and share all things beautiful.

What’s been the best source of new clients for you?

Believe it or not the majority of my clients have come from word of mouth. A big part of that is how I shape my business. I truly believe that stepping into these areas has been a calling for me, and as such will be a calling for other as well.
