We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Alexis Noble. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Alexis below.
Alexis , looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Do you take vacations? Why or why not?
No, I haven’t been on a real vacation yet. As a business owner, I stay ahead. Since I haven’t sat down to vacay, I would advise them to do what they feel. If you are needing rest, rest!
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I am Alexis Noble, a versatile and creative artist involved in various disciplines. I am the founder of The Mash Up, a unique Southern Creative platform that primarily highlights the work of black and brown creatives through carefully curated events. The Mash Up is built on four essential pillars, each catering to different aspects of creative expression and collaboration.
“Verbal Verses” is a celebration of spoken word and verbal expression. We provide platforms and events where individuals can showcase their talents in poetry, storytelling, and various forms of verbal artistry.
“Creative Sessions” are designed as hubs for collaboration and skill development. These sessions bring artists together to share ideas and engage in hands-on creative activities, fostering a sense of community and collective growth.
“Supa Markets” emphasize commerce and community engagement. These events provide a platform for artists to showcase and sell their creative products, supporting local businesses and facilitating connections between artists and their audiences.
“Art Exhibitions” highlight the visual aspect of creativity. Through curated exhibitions, The Mash Up offers a space for visual artists to display their work, encompassing a diverse range of styles and perspectives that contribute to the vibrant tapestry of artistic expression.
In addition to my role with The Mash Up, I am a full-time creative, taking on the roles of director, fashion stylist, producer, and set designer.
While I am not currently offering services to clients, The Mash Up is distinctive because it fills a gap in Mississippi, providing a platform for creatives like myself to gain visibility. I take pride in the fact that I’ve created a space that was previously absent, allowing me to bring my ideas to life successfully. My work extends beyond personal achievements; it’s about something greater than myself. I am deeply passionate about my purpose on this earth, particularly when it comes to the art of creation.

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The most gratifying part of my artistic journey lies in the intricate process leading to the final creation. As a visual artist with a penchant for abstraction, my approach is spontaneous; I navigate the creative flow without a predetermined outcome. The uncertainty and exploration during the artistic process fuel my passion.
On the flip side, as a curator, a more thoughtful and intentional approach is required. Crafting a narrative and conveying a specific story through the curation process demands precision and consideration. Both roles contribute uniquely to shaping who I am today, showcasing the duality of my creative identity and the diverse processes that define my artistic expression.
Is there mission driving your creative journey?
Currently, my objective is to secure funding for establishing a venue dedicated to hosting events for the creative community. The envisioned venue aims to foster the expansion and prosperity of the creative community, providing a dedicated space for collaborative endeavors and artistic expression.
