We were lucky to catch up with Alexis Nicole recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alexis , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Can you open up about a risk you’ve taken – what it was like taking that risk, why you took the risk and how it turned out?
One of greatest and best risks I’ve taken if the decision to make my YouTube channel. Looking back 5 years ago I had no idea that creating videos on my iPhone and posting to an audience of 0 would one day completely change my life.
I had held off for some time before creating my videos for fear of embarrassment or my channel going nowhere. Eventually I decided enough was enough and I was going to make my videos regardless if anyone watched them or not. I went out on a limb and over the years it has really grown into something beautiful.
Not only was I able to make a profitable income that allowed me to go part time at my traditional job, but I was also able to build this amazing community of like minded individuals. I’ve been able to share resources and input from other people in the nursing field to those that may need it. Making my social media platform really has been one of my greatest decisions.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
A few years ago I created a YouTube channel called “The Nurse Nook,”sharing all things related to becoming a registered nurse and nursing school. I offered resources, tips, bits of motivation and my personal experience along the way.
Today my platform has grown to Instagram and TikTok where I share pieces of my daily life along with my nursing content.
Are there any books, videos or other content that you feel have meaningfully impacted your thinking?
One of my favorite book series that really helped motivate me on my journey as both a nurse and a content creator was the “You Are A Badass” series by Jen Sincero. These books just really spoke to me and the idea that I really could do anything in this world if I really applied myself.

Putting training and knowledge aside, what else do you think really matters in terms of succeeding in your field?
I think the most important thing is to be adaptable. Both my careers as a registered nurse and as a content creator and constantly evolving. There are always new developments in the medical field as well as social media. If you aren’t adaptable it’s difficult to keep up and especially stay relevant on social media.
