Hi Alexis, thanks for joining us today. So, naming is such a challenge. How did you come up with the name of your brand?
The name came from the idea that here at Identity Crush hair we do it all from color to styling to extensions. We study the most cutting edge techniques and utilize current technology and science to deliver crush worthy signature looks to all of our customers and clients.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your background and context?
My name is Alexis Christina, Ive been a licensed Master Cosmetologist since 2010. I have a green thumb for healthy hair and enjoy hair coloring. I started out as a shampoo assistant fairly young, from there I went to cosmetology school and jumped into the industry. I had to find my way as a stylist bc I could do it all from braiding to cutting hair to specialty styling. I worked in corporate salons where I was trained in hair color and from there I knew that was the niche. As my skill in hair developed I become more focused on custom colored extensions for the typical busy woman. Fast forward to now I have a online store where I offer custom colored luxury extensions to all. One of my proudest moments was when I opened my first location where customers could buy online and locally pick up orders as well as get extensions installed. I worked many odd jobs over the years in order to make this vision come alive thru which I gained a lot of customer service and professional skills. What sets us apart from the rest is the fact our brand is backed by a seasoned stylist who knows the needs of extension wearers. Our customer service, price point and knowledge of the industry is sure to keep customers coming back. We have sourced and found top tier raw hair that can not only Handel our professional color services but also hair that can last years with proper care!
What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
One of the biggest things I had to understand and learn is that although this is your business you cannot do every job required to succeed and eventually you will need a team to thrive and The only way to help yourself is to help/ serve others. The business will constantly grow and there are many moving parts that keep everything rolling on a day to day. Being in a place as a business person to where you can train, effectively communicate , and Assign tasks to those that are qualified and knowledgeable is key. You will burn out attempting to do it all. Outsourcing help is a good thing it means your growing!!!
Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
One of the most effective strategies with building my clientele / customer base is “consistency”. If the customer/ client can always expect the same experience and results then they can count on you and as long as you are relied on the customer will 9 times out of 10 always come back to you. Therefore in return you build a quality relationship that’s mutually benefiting and long lasting!!
