Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Alexis Forgy. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alexis, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. We’d love to have you retell us the story behind how you came up with the idea for your business, I think our audience would really enjoy hearing the backstory.
The summer before my sophomore year of college (about a year and half ago) I was thinking about all of the ways I loved getting to be creative with photography. I have had a photography business for around 4 years now and was primarily doing portrait and sports photography. I loved it, but I had started working for a photographer in KC, Rita at Heirloom Photo Company, and she had me help with a few branding shoots that she had with clients. I quickly realized how passionate about helping other businesses I was. After those shoots I wanted to start building my branding portfolio so that I could eventually start doing more photoshoots like that. I reached out to Faith Durham, the owner of Faith Naomi Boutique, and I offered to do a branding shoot for her boutique so that I could get a start for my portfolio in that type of photography. After taking her photos I realized just how much I loved branding. Over the following winter break I had 4 companies reach out to me about doing branding photos which was so much fun. In January of 2025 I had the idea of eventually starting a marketing company. I knew that I always wanted to pursuit marketing, but I realized that starting it slowly in college would be more beneficial to me because I could hopefully grow it for when I graduate in 2027. I have always had a good understanding with social media, content creation, and photography. Social Haus by AFP allows me to help business owners who don’t have time or don’t have the passion for promoting on social media. I also get to create timeless content for their companies to help them do well. I have always loved getting to help people so getting to work with so many people to generate success for their companies has been so special.

Alexis, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Social Haus by AFP is a sister brand to Alexis Forgy Photography. I have had Alexis Forgy Photography since I was a junior in high school in 2021 and started Social Haus by AFP in January of 2025. Social Haus by AFP primarily works with businesses to create timeless content for their companies. We specialize in all aspects of marketing including: branding photography, content creation, website design, business event planning, and more. We strive to be a one stop for all marketing needs for businesses. This allows clients to have to think less about promoting their company and get to just do what they love which is running their business. I am most proud of the boutique style services we offer. While there are standard packages everything is adjustable and accommodating for business owners so that it is special to what they are looking for. We custom create a branding guide for each client to help them feel prepared for their shoot or meeting. Social Haus by AFP isn’t a cookie cutter marketing firm, we customize it for you and your business.

We’d love to hear about how you keep in touch with clients.
With a lot of my clients, they have routinely photoshoots because their companies are constantly needing new marketing tools for different campaigns. This already helps with brand loyalty but I think it’s also really important to keep in touch with things that don’t have anything to do with work. If I see on social media that it’s someone’s birthday or that a big milestone happened for them, I always try my best to send them a text. It means a lot to people when you connect with them outside of work because they know you care about them and don’t just view them as a client. I also try really hard to be very engaged on my client’s social medias. It means a lot to me that they are choosing to support my company and I want them to know that I appreciate them and want to support them back. I honestly think that I have gotten really lucky with the clients I have the pleasure of working with. Not very many people get to say that they are friends with the people they work with. I would say that I am friends with the majority of people that have hired me and they are all so kind. I am truly so blessed.

Do you have any insights you can share related to maintaining high team morale?
I may stray a little from this question if that is okay but will circle back. I have had the pleasure of working with three amazing interns this semester. The first few weeks of school in August were a lot to manage for me with school, work, and running Social Haus by AFP. I posted a “We’re Hiring” graphic and did some interviews for an internship position. I was originally only planning on hiring one intern but after completing interviews I knew that it would be impossible to narrow it down to one. I seriously am so so grateful to my interns and the work they have put in to help with my company. I think that I am learning from them as much as they are learning from the experience they are getting while interning for Social Haus by AFP. I think when you are managing a team it is important to have good communication. I try to text at least once a week with my interns and make sure they know they can text me with anything if they need to. I want them to feel comfortable to make mistakes and learn because that is what internships are for.
