We recently connected with Alexiah Noray and have shared our conversation below.
Alexiah , appreciate you joining us today. What did your parents do right and how has that impacted you in your life and career?
My upbringing is pretty unique if I must say so lol. I was raised by a village that consisted of my grandma, uncles and a host of other family members. Growing up, I saw everyone around me hustle and not want or need for anything. My family is from Jamaica, my grandparents came to America to create a better life for us which meant there were a lot of sacrifices made. I was put in the best schools, extra curricular activities, you name it. They taught me the value of a dollar but more than anything they taught me resilience and perseverance. I was taught to keep going no matter how many hiccups or distractions may try to take me off my path.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
Hmmmm.. lol. I’m from Jamaica, I have always had an interest in the beauty field, I knew I would be relocating to Baltimore, so it was the perfect time for me to truly step out on faith. A week of being in Baltimore, I registered for esthetician school and started 2 days later with the flu. Go figure lol. Before beauty school, I actually had a small handmade lip gloss line that did pretty good but I fell out of love with it. Funny enough, I’m in a season of isolation and wanting to expand my brand and revamping my cosmetics line was put on my spirit. Right now, I currently offer luxury facials, full body waxing, makeup services and drop shipping for skin care products. I believe my integrity and passion to always excel and learn in my industry is what sets me apart from others. I’m always willing to take things up a notch.
How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
I’m currently in a season now, where I had to put everything in my life, career and business to a hard pause. Sometimes we think we have our lives all figured out and in a blink of an eye things can change. I have always been a person of high faith, I am a firm believer of God. In this season, I’m supposed to be still as I make these new changes that will align with my true self and future. My brand is expanding beyond my wildest dreams and I can’t wait for everyone to witness the growth. As for myself, I’m going through a huge transition, and Im being patient as I walk into my purpose.
Can you talk to us about manufacturing? How’d you figure it all out? We’d love to hear the story.
I have a few vendors that I use, skin care isn’t a one size fits all. Every vendor caters to each client differently depending on what their skin concerns are, but every vendor I do use is very affective with results.
