Alexia , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Has your work ever been misunderstood or mischaracterized?
Absolutely—I’ve often felt that my work as a fine art nature photographer is misunderstood or mischaracterized, especially by those who haven’t seen the pieces in person or don’t know what goes into creating them.
Photography is sometimes brushed off as “just taking pictures,” but the truth is, what I do is an intricate and demanding process that requires vision, patience, technical skill, and a deep connection with nature. My work begins long before I ever click the shutter—I spend hours researching and selecting locations, sometimes traveling across states or even countries. I track weather patterns, scout for days, and often return to the same location multiple times in pursuit of that perfect moment—when the light, sky, and landscape align like a symphony. If I’m shooting a sunrise or sunset, I need just the right amount of cloud coverage—enough to create vibrant colors, but not so much that the scene becomes flat or gray.
After capturing the images, the journey continues. I return home and sift through hundreds, sometimes thousands, of photographs to find the few that hold the magic I witnessed. Then comes the editing—a meticulous process of bringing the image to life without altering its truth. Painting with light and color in Photoshop is an art in itself. The camera never captures the scene the way the human eye experiences it, and it’s my job to restore the emotion and richness of that moment.
Once the final image is selected, I move into proofing and print production. I work with the highest-quality photographic papers and mount the final work under acrylic, ensuring every detail—from color accuracy to sharpness—is flawless. Each piece is finished with a custom floating frame and professionally packaged.
Because this process is invisible to most people, my work has often been underestimated—until they see it in person. That’s when they finally understand the depth, the craft, and the reason behind its value. It’s not just a photograph—it’s a moment of nature’s brilliance, captured, curated, and elevated into art.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
My name is Alexia Rousse. I’m a fine art nature photographer with a passion for capturing the raw, breathtaking beauty of our planet and transforming it into powerful, lasting works of art. My journey began not with a camera, but with an unshakable love for the outdoors. I spent much of my early life exploring nature—feeling at home among trees, rivers, mountains, and sky. Photography came later, as a way to honor that connection and share the emotion of those moments with others.
What I create today are large-scale, limited edition acrylic prints—each one the result of careful planning, patience, and craftsmanship. I often travel long distances to find the perfect location. I return repeatedly to capture it in just the right light—at sunrise, sunset, or under fleeting weather conditions. Once home, I spend hours reviewing images, selecting the most compelling frames, and meticulously editing to restore the depth and vibrancy that the camera can’t always capture. The final work is then proofed and printed using the finest materials, creating gallery-quality art designed to last a lifetime.
What makes my work unique is the exceptional quality of each print as well as the emotional presence each piece holds. These are not just landscapes—they are windows into a feeling: awe, stillness, connection. My goal is to bring those feelings into people’s homes, to offer something more than décor—a daily reminder of the peace and wonder that nature brings.
I believe deeply in the power of beauty to transform our environment and our mindset. My mission is to help people reconnect with nature, even if only through a single piece of art on their wall. Because when we’re surrounded by something that moves us, we start to see the world—and ourselves—a little differently.

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
For me, the most rewarding aspect of being an artist is getting to do what I love most—spending time in nature, witnessing moments of stunning beauty, and capturing them in a way that others can experience too. There’s something deeply fulfilling about turning those fleeting scenes into lasting works of art and seeing how they move people, bring calm, or even spark a sense of awe.
It fills my soul with love and purpose to know that the images I create can bring peace into someone’s home or serve as a daily reminder of the wonder that exists in the world. I truly believe there’s no greater feeling than living your passion and being able to share it with others.

We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
One of the biggest lessons I had to unlearn was the belief that you can’t make money as a photographer or artist—that choosing a creative path meant choosing a life of struggle. I had heard this message so often that I began to internalize it. For a time, I believed that pursuing art as a career meant sacrificing financial stability and success.
That all changed when I met and worked with Peter Lik—one of the most accomplished fine art nature photographers in the world. Experiencing his success up close, and seeing how he built a thriving luxury business around his passion, was transformative for me. He showed me firsthand that it is entirely possible to offer a high-end product, stay true to your vision, and thrive as an artist.
His example changed everything for me. I realized that I didn’t have to choose between purpose and prosperity. That unlearning opened the door for me to step fully into my own vision and to build a business rooted in passion, excellence, and the deep belief that art has immense value—emotionally and economically.
