We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Alexia Abarca a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Alexia, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Any thoughts around creating more inclusive workplaces?
To create a more inclusive workplace, it’s essential to foster an environment where everyone feels respected and empowered to contribute authentically. My experience with platforms like Punkaganda Press, which amplify underrepresented voices in music and media, has deeply shaped my perspective on inclusivity.
At Punkaganda Press, I saw how giving a platform to emerging artists and voices from marginalized communities created a sense of belonging and authenticity. This approach shows how valuing diverse stories can foster inclusivity and community growth. In the workplace, this can translate to amplifying ideas from all team members and creating equitable opportunities for them to thrive.
Punkaganda Press reflects a strong commitment to authenticity and pushing boundaries, which are values that resonate with me. In the workplace, having clear values around inclusivity and holding everyone accountable to them is vital. For example, creating policies that address discrimination and proactively fostering a safe space for our team ensures inclusivity isn’t just a checkbox.
Moments of impact for me have included seeing how inclusivity creates stronger communities and empowers individuals to bring their whole selves to the table. By prioritizing inclusivity, workplaces can mirror the transformative power I’ve strived to make in the music and media spaces.

Alexia, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I’m a creative professional with a passion for music marketing, artist development, and concert photography, combining my skills in marketing, data analysis, and psychology to help artists connect with their audiences in meaningful ways. My journey into this field was inspired by a lifelong love of music and storytelling. Growing up, I was fascinated by how music could connect people, inspire change, and evoke powerful emotions. My academic background in psychology and gender studies further shaped my understanding of human behavior, which I now apply to crafting campaigns and creative works that resonate authentically with audiences.
I offer a range of creative services, including concert photography and videography, where I capture the raw energy and emotion of live performances; music marketing and branding, helping artists develop their identities and grow their fanbases; tour and show design, crafting immersive experiences for fans; and media production, leveraging my expertise in video production, recognized with multiple state-awarded certificates. What sets me apart is my ability to combine the art of storytelling with a deep understanding of the psychology behind audience engagement. My work is rooted in inclusivity, amplifying underrepresented voices in the industry and ensuring everyone has the opportunity to be seen and heard.
One of the moments I’m most proud of was working with Punkaganda Press, a platform dedicated to supporting emerging and marginalized voices in music. This experience solidified my commitment to helping artists tell their stories authentically and creating spaces that foster connection and belonging. My ultimate goal is to create art that inspires and elevates, whether it’s through a perfectly timed photograph, a compelling video, or a marketing campaign that brings an artist’s vision to life. For anyone looking for a photographer, videographer, or someone to help develop their brand and audience, I bring not just technical expertise but a genuine passion for the craft and the artists I work with. Let’s create something unforgettable together.

What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
My ultimate goal as a creative is to become a touring photographer and videographer, capturing the raw, unfiltered energy of live performances and the stories behind them. Music has always been a powerful force in my life—it’s not just sound, but an experience that connects people on a deeply emotional level. I’ve had the incredible opportunity to tour once before, and it was truly the best time of my life. The experience of being on the road, connecting with artists, and documenting the highs and lows of tour life solidified my passion for this work. I’d do anything to get back out on the road, fully immersing myself in the energy of live music and the stories that unfold behind the scenes.
What drives me is the desire to help artists tell their stories authentically and to preserve the moments that mean the most to them and their fans. Touring is such an intimate, dynamic experience, and I’m passionate about creating visuals that reflect the heart and soul of those journeys. I want to contribute to the music world by making art that resonates, inspires, and celebrates the unique connection between artists and their audiences. My mission is to turn fleeting moments into lasting memories—images and videos that transport viewers back to the passion and energy of the live music experience.

How’d you meet your business partner?
The story of how I met my cofounder, Lou, is a perfect example of how the internet brings people together in unexpected ways. We first connected on Stan Twitter, where we were both actively engaging in conversations about our favorite artists and bands. It started as a mutual appreciation for the same music and evolved into regular interactions, sharing ideas, and hyping up each other’s posts.
Over time, it became clear that we shared not only similar tastes in music but also a passion for supporting artists and fostering community in the music scene. What began as casual conversations turned into brainstorming sessions about how we could contribute to the industry we both loved so much. That’s when the idea for our collaboration started taking shape.
Meeting Lou on Twitter was such a serendipitous moment, and it’s a reminder of how powerful shared passions can be in building meaningful partnerships. Together, we’ve been able to turn our love for music into something tangible, working on projects that inspire us and connect with others who feel the same way. If it wasn’t for meeting him, Punkaganda Press wouldn’t have been born
