We recently connected with Alexey Bever and have shared our conversation below.
Alexey, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. How did you scale up? What were the strategies, tactics, meaningful moments, twists/turns, obstacles, mistakes along the way? We’d love to hear the backstory the illustrates how you grew the firm
First and most importantly is believe in your self and the craft you are creating. When I was just doing photography as a hobby. Many other photographers would want to come up and talk about my equipment and or stories. I always just wanted to be the outsider. That until I finally said to myself, “talk to these people and hear what is said.” I’ve gained so much confidence in my craft because showing my portfolio to them and seeing their reactions. Then I built more friendly relationships with these photographers. Strength in numbers and we all shared a similar passion.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I came up with this phrase, “enjoy the paradise” as I was always taking photos of beach landscapes and waves. I wanted whoever it may be in the world to see this and get to experience the paradise I had just captured. I ever since kept that my passion to seek. The photography business is a big platform but it’s the little opening you have to take to push yourself. If there is a chance to do it once, do it because you may never get called back for it again. Art shows, galleries, contest. Push yourself and your product more than what you thought. If you believe in it it needs to go higher.
What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?
Even if I was all for capturing ocean landscapes images. I always helped those who would be families trying to get their photo at a certain spot near where I was. I would then give my card and say if you have any other members who need an updated family picture, I’m here all the time. I would since then get many new clients from word of mouth. It can be a friend of who I gave a business card to or their extended family. Somehow it would be passed along and I was their choice.
Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
Aim for anything. I use to only capture family or models. It would only get me so many people. But once I said yes to what my client asked for I pushed my limits and did that. I never say no. It opened many clients and it brought my business to a higher platform.
