As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
In todays world, there is so much waste and not enough recycling and repurposing! Almost everything in any industry can be reused! I may not be able to change the world but I love to educate on how to make a difference in the amount of waste in the Beauty industry!
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
At sixteen, I became a teen mom. I was lost and scared and confused but knew there was someone relying on me now besides myself! I had to show him the way! Along the way, i faced many struggles. The biggest one of which being life altering, when my sons father committed suicide a year later. I knew now being a young, teen, and single parent, I had to lead by example! So at 17, I enrolled in half day career training at a duel enrollment course where I went to cosmetology school half the day and took my encore classes at my home school the rest of the school day. At first I did this as a trade to have a backup path under my sleeve, but the more I did it the more I loved it and wanted to persue it long term knowing I could support myself and my child doing so! I worked 12 years in two high end salons before I felt I needed to start a new chapter in life of being a small business owner!
How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
After six years in my salon, I never realized how too comfortable I was. I was forced to choose either cut or color and could no longer persue both of my passions behind the chair! Therefore, I gave it a shot for four months and instantly felt myself being unhappy and unfillfulled which ihad never felt in my industry before. This motivated me to start a new journey in my career in opening my own salon suite!
