We were lucky to catch up with Alexandria Ortiz recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alexandria, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Let’s start big picture – what are some of biggest trends you are seeing in your industry?
Like plenty of entrepreneurs, initially my biggest challenge was answering the question “what do you do”? But now, thanks for years of pure panic, I realize the answer is a question – “What areas in your business or personal life need attention?” This question often leads to how I can help. As a consultant, it’s easy for me to find the area of opportunity in your business, events, or life to add value. Once a connection is established, more opportunities for collaboration arise. That’s why when asked about my line of business, I always mention “relationships”. I am in the relationship business! Clients rely on me to oversee crucial aspects of their businesses and lives, and I consider this responsibility with great seriousness. Whether it’s Event Curation, Independent Consulting, Brand Management, or Experience Activations. While I identify as a consultant, I don’t limit myself to a single category in today’s changing landscape. Like Martha Stewart and Kim Kardashian, I embrace my diverse skills. I have a soul-gripping passion for the culinary arts and that has led me to be able to curate the best food and bar programs nationally. I have an extensive background in pre legal negotiations which made me love providing these types of skills to my chefs and small business that may not have the same background, and just like any southern belle – I host a mean dinner party and throw the most thought driven events I’ve seen if I do say so myself. In today’s world, I have proven that staying true to yourself can lead to a successful business!
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
My name is Alexandria. I am the proud owner of Alexandria Ortiz Consults, a Hospitality Consulting Agency here in Atlanta, GA. We specialize in brand management, event creative direction, brand activations, and independent consulting asks. I have a background in pre-legal negotiations and I have a strong passion for all things fine dining. As many other success stories start – my story started in the pandemic where I was focused to use the tools GOD blessed me with to make way. I’m pleased to say my company has invested time, energy, blood, sweat and tears into diverse owned businesses here in our community by way of chefs, bartenders, independent contractors and more. Thankfully because of our efforts we now have major corporations like Microsoft on the roster to continually send them black, brown, LGBT+, veteran owned, women owned businesses and that makes me not just like what I do but love what I do on a daily basis.
Let’s move on to buying businesses – can you talk to us about your experience with business acquisitions?
As of this moment I do not have any experience with business acquisitions, all though that may change by the time this interview is published ha-ha. However I am really excited to announce that with the connections made through my business, I’ve been able to partner up and develop a new concept …”The Pop Up Airstream “! The Pop Up Airstream is an “air bnb” style rental company to mobilize your business for a day, weekend or more for little to a fraction of what it may cost to invest to do it yourself. It’s a rental company with none of the risk of ownership and all of the fun of a pop up location! We started this business for a few reasons, one of the reasons I care to share is I believe that Atlanta is the most talented city in the world. Everyone is “a creative”. Unfortunately not everyone has the ability to buy a store front, or buy a restaurant, but now – they can. They can live their dream at a pop up location, a festival, an event, anywhere. They can truly scale and grow with our airstreams and that is my motivation daily.
Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
What helped build my reputation? My business is my name, Alexandria Ortiz Consults. It’s as simple as that! I am my business, I want people to know what I’m giving – me, every day, in everything – people can trust that. Companies value that, Big businesses trust that, small businesses get that. My reputation was built by being authentically myself.
