We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Alexandria Jade a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Alexandria, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Are you able to earn a full-time living from your creative work? If so, can you walk us through your journey and how you made it happen?
I’m currently working as a Freelance Music Supervisor and Intern at a Sync Catalogue Agency, after years of persistence and openness to every opportunity that would bring me closer to a career in music.
My journey began in the Production Office, where I built a strong foundation with a stacked list of credits as a Production Assistant. In 2023, while still working in that role, I made it known that I had a deep interest in Music Supervision. I’m incredibly grateful that the Production Office supported me and put in a good word, and I connected with the Music Department right after we wrapped the film.
That moment marked a major milestone. Everything aligned exactly as it needed to. The writer’s strike that same year gave me the space to return to school, and by the time I completed the course, I had already signed a contract to work as a Music Coordinator.
This transition into the Music Department for Film and TV has been a testament to trusting the process, staying ready, and following my passion.

Alexandria, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
My name is Alexandria Jade (Dowe), and I moved to Atlanta at 19 with dreams of becoming a Film Editor. That was the spark and first step in what has now become a five-year journey through the world of entertainment. The road has been hard. It’s been sad. It’s tested my patience more times than I can count. But above all, it’s been deeply rewarding.
Today, I’m proud to say I’ve carved a space for myself in this industry one that reflects my passion, resilience, and creativity. I’m the host of Having It Made (with Alexandria Jade) and the founder of Having It Made LLC, a brand that exists at the intersection of music, media, and opportunity.
Through my platform, I contribute to the culture in an informative, musical way that aligns with what I do professionally as a Music Supervisor and Music Coordinator.
My mission is simple but powerful: to shine a light on talent and create opportunities for artists to be seen and heard. Whether it’s featuring guests on my show or offering thoughtful feedback on how their songs might fit a particular sync placement, I pour my heart into every connection I make.
What I love most about what I do is how holistic it feels. It’s not just work, it’s my calling. I’m so passionate about music and its impact that I see a future in Musicology, diving deeper into the history, meaning, and movement of sound across culture and time.
More than anything, I’m proud of who I am becoming. I’m proud of my persistence. I’m proud of how I’ve stayed true to my vision. But most of all, I’m proud of my ability to connect with others to build meaningful relationships that open doors not just for me, but for everyone I encounter on this ride.
This is only the beginning, and I’m exactly where I’m meant to be.

Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
One of the biggest drivers of growth for Having It Made has been social media. I’ve built my audience by consistently sharing short clips of my show and highlighting some of my favorite records. That combination of personality, passion, and music curation has helped me connect with the right people. Those who get what I do and why I do it.
Marketing has played a huge role in expanding my reach. The algorithms are always changing, but over time I’ve learned how to work with them. Boosting select clips has helped me find and reach the right audience faster. Even if you don’t go viral, targeted consistency is how you build trust and community.
If you’re trying to build your own social presence to showcase your work, here’s what I’ve learned:
• Post across all platforms — yes, it’s a lot, but that’s literally what the platforms are there for. TikTok, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube… each one introduces you to different kinds of viewers.
• Create a post schedule. I know that sounds basic, but it works. It keeps you accountable and gives your audience a rhythm to expect and follow.
• Share what you love. Passion translates. Whether it’s your show, your music taste, or your opinion on a placement — put it out there.

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
One of the most rewarding parts of this journey has been getting to share my story with features like Canvas Rebel of course! Opportunities like this remind me that I don’t have to shrink myself to be accepted. I get to show up in my full authenticity no filter, no performance. Just me.
I don’t have to pretend that God didn’t give me all this insight, talent, and creative drive. I know what I carry, and I’ve learned to walk in that truth unapologetically.
I’ve arrived at a place where I can say: I am talented, brave, and remarkable and I don’t need permission to shine.
That’s the real reward. Not just doing the work, but doing it as myself, on my own terms.
