We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Alexandria Foxx. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Alexandria below.
Alexandria , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Can you tell us the backstory behind how you came up with the idea?
When I was in university, I had the idea that I would become this high-powered attorney, fighting for justice and peace. I spent five long, challenging, stressful years succeeding in my studies and graduated with honors. Yet, my grandfather backed out on his promise to pay for my studies, leaving me with five years of loans and intense burnout. Yes, I had a degree and a good education, but at what price? I knew that my path had changed, and I needed to attend to my emotional and physical needs as much as I need to make the bag, so what else could I do to push on?
About three years into my university studies, I began side work as a festival performer. This led me to new heights– literally. As I delved deeper into the world of stilt walking, gogo dancing, clowning, and improvisation, I found a connection to others and myself that gave me a sense that I was on the right track. There is no feeling like being on stage, performing for a crowd of thousands of happy, connected people. I have been moved to tears countless times. In those moments of awe, I knew what it felt like to be fully living in my purpose, giving and receiving that artful energy. I am meant for something that gives people entertainment and insight into themselves and the world through art. Those good feelings had to be followed and put to use.
I continued with these creative passions and found my way into the world of burlesque. It was so exciting to find people who liked to be strange and sexy and those who liked to enjoy the strange worlds others created. I had spaces where I could explore various concepts and themes and frame them around an act designed to titillate and inspire. I was SO inspired. I knew that this was the direction that I was meant to go. I dived in, volunteered with various sexuality and kink organizations to learn and grow (namely, The Center for Positive Sexuality and Planned Parenthood), and continued to create.
Along my journey, I encountered people who worked professionally in the BDSM scene. I had been curious about this for a while, and I finally found my in with someone willing to train me and guide me along this path. After years of taking in what makes people tick in the most intimate ways, I began to take on more clients and fully embrace my role as a sensual Goddess: A pro-dominatrix. I felt empowered as I gave people the validation and direction to explore these deep aspects of themselves that are typically kept hidden. I got to perform and transmute my lived experiences into something beautiful and captivating. Sometimes, when I’m really lucky, those experiences are positively life-changing.
Every day, I learn something that extends beyond myself. For that I am grateful, and I know I will continue to encounter people who are curious for more. I will continue to learn how to be the best provider, artist, and space creator as possible. I’m so glad that this allows me to provide more for myself than I had imagined was possible. I may have had a difficult and sometimes lonely start at the beginning of my independent adulthood, but I really got to see the kind of stuff I am made of. I do better so that others can have it easier and be better.
Alexandria , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
When I step into my role as a performer, especially as a sensual Goddess, I am a vessel through which people can find acceptance. Peculiarities, kinks, fetishes, and sex are typically only shared behind closed doors. These things can bring shame in unwanted ways, but I aim to be a space where people explore the legal, safe things that they are curious about. I get to learn and teach as we get closer to ourselves.
I went from performing at festivals, special events, and private and corporate events as Alexandria Foxx to working as the dominatrix of play and accountability, Goddess Levian Foxx. Through deepening my skills and passions, I have found my worth, and I help my clients find their own.
My background is in psychology, yoga and performance instruction, community building, and harm reduction. I have projects that range from creating events and workshops that teach movement, personal development, and sexual wellness to shooting as a boudoir photographer. Through everything, I aim to make art that is enjoyable for as many senses as possible.
I truly believe that the happiest people are those who fully love and accept themselves as this allows us to show up in this way for others. It’s easy to let go of judgment and unkindness when you are accepting and kind to yourself, and this type of work goes deeply into our morals, desires, and core beings. I am so proud of the many amazing friends and clients I have gotten to know and love over the years as we grow alongside one another and together.
Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
I grew up in a very religious, conservative bubble that I gradually expanded beyond. Once I could finally lean into what made me happy, even if it went against those former rules of propriety, I felt free. I could be kinder, more open, and more giving once I felt as though I was giving that full acceptance to myself. Living in my truth as the sometimes wild and risque artist has shown me what I enjoy, what I’m curious about, and those who value pleasure along with care and respect for others.
I used to envy those who seemed to do whatever they wanted, just because they liked it. Now, I get to be that person. I hope that my life permits more people to be free.
Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
People deserve safe people, places, and experiences to release the drag and stressors from the daily grind, be as sexy as they want to be, and enjoy what makes life exciting and worthwhile. I am directing my training and experiences to one day have a collection of event spaces and BnBs that provide just that in beautiful locales that welcome all who want to be a positive part of it.
When we bring a group of people with a wide collection of experiences, we see our best selves drawn out and reflected in others. What is most important is to have an undercurrent of respect and accountability to work through challenges that arise thoughtfully and to learn through our mistakes together. We have a space to shine bright, share our knowledge and talents, gain practical and interpersonal skills, and receive the affirmation that comes from being a good person working with good people. We will host dance parties, art shows, creative workshops, retreats, and be a center for our unique selves to commune with others. We need more of this in the world, and I work, learn, and gather my people so that we can one day create more of this for whomever vibes with what we’ve got.
