We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Alexandria Crichlow a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Alexandria thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Let’s start with the story of your mission. What should we know?
In 2021 during the height of the Pandemic, there was silence within the Classical Music Community. Live performances were at a halt and the joy of music seemed to be the only experience that gave joy during such a devastating world Epidemic. Thus, the Classical Musicians Network was birthed! Alexandria and her team saw a need to re-establish a connection with the Classic Field but wanted to represent it in a new innovative way. By being a Black-owned company the Classical Musicians Network known as ‘The CM Network’ truly defies all stereotypical views of what it means to be a BIPOC lead organization. Most times Classical Music experiences and stories are not told from the lens of a Black Woman let alone, a Bajan African American Opera Singer. Alexandria Crichlow is a trendsetter as one of the first BIPOC created and lead Classical Music Organizations and she wears that badge with pride and honor.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
The Classical Musicians Network also known as ‘The CM Network’ creates spaces for all areas of the classical music world to connect. Founded by Alexandria Crichlow, during the height of the Pandemic, the global multi-digital platform’s mission is to popularize Classical music made for everyone. Join The Classical Musicians Network today and start experiencing the joy of Classical Music in a whole new way.
Can you share one of your favorite marketing or sales stories?
With 2024 being The Classical Musicians network’s third official year. We wanted to change how we produced content and make sure we were selling the point that “ Classical Music Is For Everyone”. Now how can that be done you may ask? By providing content that speaks to all viewers and audiences. With this notion, our first viral video was made showcasing the magical impromptu performance of the famous Aria “Queen Of The Night” From The Magic Flute (W.A Mozart) by Jon Batiste and Simon Helberg on The Stephen Colbert Show. The video astounded the world and gave our organization the spotlight needed to share our message of inclusion. We gained over 2.5 Million Views from around the world, further showcasing there is a growing love for Classical Music!
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
When building a social media presence you want to make sure you know exactly what audience you want to engage. For example The Classical Musicians Network is geared to the global collective of classic musicians and enthusiasts. By already charting out what our audience looks like, then engaging content can be made.
