We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Alexandra Seanez a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Alexandra, appreciate you joining us today. To kick things off, we’d love to hear about things you or your brand do that diverge from the industry standard.
You aren’t just getting your photographs taken, you are embarking on an entire customer experience when you book with me.
My goal is to create a seamless and amazing experience from the second I receive an inquiry. Upon booking we will set up a phone consultation so I can get to know every client on a personal level, which also helps us feel like we already know each other when it comes time to their session. We then touch on vendor referrals, pick a location together, and talk about what to expect. Sometimes information can be overwhelming which is why everything we talk about is also referenced in a personalized welcome guide tailored to their session. Most importantly, I know how daunting it can be to style multiple people and purchase clothing you honestly may never wear again just for pictures. And that is why every one of my client’s has the opportunity for an in person styling appointment where they can try on and use clothing from my “Client Closet” for their session. I have women’s, and childrens clothing of all sizes. I am here to answer any questions, and to make this the best session for every client. At the end of every session, it is bittersweet. Bitter because the fun is over, but sweet because I have gained new friends and sometimes even friends that become family.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your background and context?
My name is Alexandra (Alex) and I am a mother to two small children. I started photography about 6.5 years ago, as a casual hobby after my eldest chid, Charlotte, was born. Oil painting was always my creative outlet in life, but after having my first born I realized just how little time I had but how much I still needed a creative outlet. Therefore, I named my business after my daughter because she was the reason for trying photography. No brushes to clean, nothing to set up. When I needed to be done, I would just turn off my camera and set it down. The best part of it all is having some amazing, priceless photos of our life to look back on.
I love the ability to “create”, whether that be for a branding session, elopement or family session, I love making each session creatively tailored to each client’s needs and vision. I sometimes feel like a small fish in a big pond of amazing photographers, but I feel what really sets me apart is authentic captures, my ability to document connection and my customer experience. I’m proud of how far I’ve come, and how many amazing clients I’ve been able to serve. I will go above and beyond for all my clients, and if they don’t feel that way then I haven’t done my job.
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
Build your business based on your “why”! My why started out as capturing authentic love of families in a lifestyle setting. I photographed friends, family, friend of friends, and continued to market that on my social media until I began to attract clients wanting the same. Market what you are wanting to attract.
What’s been the best source of new clients for you?
Referrals! Not only does amazing customer service and customer experience benefit your clients, it benefits your business as a whole. When customers are happy, they are great at letting friends and family know. Whether that be by posting your photos on their social media, announcement cards or texting all their friends.
