Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Alexandra Schuetz. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alexandra, appreciate you joining us today. Are you happier as a business owner? Do you sometimes think about what it would be like to just have a regular job?
As a business owner, I’ve found immense fulfillment in pursuing my passions and shaping my own destiny. The autonomy to design my schedule, select clients, and integrate my roles as a mother and entrepreneur has been empowering.
While thoughts of a traditional nine-to-five job occasionally surface, especially during hectic periods when deadlines loom and responsibilities weigh heavily, they quickly dissipate. The allure of a structured routine fades when I consider how integral flexibility and autonomy are to my identity.
Even during moments of doubt, when stability seems appealing, my business experiences unexpected growth. This serves as a reminder of the unique rewards and opportunities that entrepreneurship provides. The challenges inherent in this journey propel me forward, fostering innovation and personal growth.
Ultimately, the transient allure of a regular job pales in comparison to the fulfillment I find as a business owner. It’s not just a career—it’s a lifestyle that aligns with my values and aspirations. Despite its demands, the journey of entrepreneurship offers unparalleled satisfaction and purpose. It’s a decision I wouldn’t trade for anything.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I am deeply passionate about the arts and design, a passion that was ignited at a young age as I grew up around custom home building sites with my father, who was a custom home builder. Traditional schooling didn’t resonate with me until I discovered the concept of trade schools, which opened doors to a world where I could channel my creativity into tangible projects.
My business offers a diverse range of services, with a primary focus on full home new construction and large-scale designs. However, I believe everyone deserves a beautiful home, so I’m equally dedicated to smaller projects. What sets my business apart is our full-service approach. From the initial concept to the final touches, I guide my clients through every step of their project, offering support in budgeting, timelines, and decision-making.
I take immense pride in my work and prioritize customer service above all else. What distinguishes me is my proactive involvement in the decision-making process and my commitment to delivering unique, creative solutions tailored to each client’s needs.
What I’m most proud of is that all my successes have been hard-earned. I haven’t been handed anything; I’ve worked tirelessly for every job, review, and relationship. As a team player, I’m always open to learning and growing, continuously striving to elevate the quality of my work and the satisfaction of my clients.
One aspect that defines my approach is my unique style, yet I always tailor each home to reflect the individual needs and desires of my clients. This commitment ensures that no two projects are alike, and I find great joy in the diversity of my portfolio. Crafting homes around my clients allows me to showcase my skills while celebrating the distinct personalities and preferences of each homeowner. This dynamic process keeps my work fresh, exciting, and deeply rewarding, as I witness the transformation of concepts into personalized living spaces that exceed expectations.
Where do you think you get most of your clients from?
The source of new clients for my business has undoubtedly been word-of-mouth referrals. Over the past 4 1/2 years, nearly 90% of my clients have been referred to me through word of mouth. For me, this form of referral is unparalleled because it serves as tangible proof of my accomplishments. The trust and satisfaction demonstrated by clients who refer their friends, family, and colleagues speak volumes about the quality of my work and the relationships I’ve cultivated. It’s a testament to the value I provide and the positive experiences my clients have had, making it the most rewarding source of new business for me.
How did you put together the initial capital you needed to start your business?
Securing the initial capital for my business was a testament to resourcefulness and strategic planning. Fortunately, I was able to launch my business with minimal capital investment, paying for just my tax id and business paper work. For almost four years, I didn’t need to inject additional funds into the venture. Instead, I maximized existing resources, reinvested profits, and meticulously managed expenses to drive growth. Now almost 5 years in I’ve only Invested in two paid advertisements and opened up a deisgn show room!
