Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Alexandra Mackey. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alexandra , looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Was there a defining moment in your professional career? A moment that changed the trajectory of your career?
It was the final semester of my undergraduate program, and I found myself sitting in a Conflict Management class—ironically, at the very moment my parents were navigating the painful end of their 26-year marriage. As I absorbed tools for healthy communication and emotional regulation, I remember thinking: “If only they had known these things… would they still be divorcing?”
That moment hit me hard—and changed everything. It sparked something deep inside me: a desire not only to understand human behavior and relationships on a deeper level but to help others break free from the emotional pain and dysfunctional cycles that quietly erode their lives. I made a promise to myself then and there—to keep learning, keep growing, and one day become the kind of guide who could walk with people through their darkest moments, helping them heal, thrive, and rewrite their story.
Today, that spark has turned into a full-blown mission. Through counseling, coaching, and transformational programs, I help individuals and couples overcome trauma, build emotional mastery, and create the fulfilling lives and relationships they deserve.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
Hi, I’m Alexandra Mackey—a therapist, life coach, entrepreneur, and educator passionate about helping people heal, grow, and thrive. I hold a Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and have extensive training in trauma work, couples and relationship coaching, psychology, and equine-assisted psychotherapy. I combine clinical insight with real-life experience to guide clients through meaningful transformation.
I founded Live Empowered Counseling & Coaching to offer a different kind of support—one that blends the depth of therapy with the practicality of coaching. My team and I aren’t your typical stuffy professionals. We’re real, dynamic humans who understand the messiness of life and meet our clients with compassion, authenticity, and a down-to-earth approach that makes the work feel safe, empowering, and impactful.
In addition to my clinical work, I’m a co-owner of eight successful six- and seven-figure businesses. I bring that entrepreneurial mindset into my practice—helping people break old emotional patterns, build confidence, and create a life aligned with their purpose.
I’m also gearing up to launch my self-paced online masterclass, “Master Your Life, Master Your Emotions: Unlock Your Inner Power, Break Free from Emotional Chaos, and Transform Your Life.” It’s a thoughtful and life-changing program designed to teach the psychology and practical tools behind emotional mastery and self-soothing.
What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
Beyond the titles of therapist, life coach, and entrepreneur, I’m a woman who’s done deep, transformative work on herself.
My journey hasn’t been polished or perfect—it’s been real, raw, and at times, incredibly hard. I’ve had to face and unlearn deeply rooted core beliefs like “I’m not capable,” “Maybe I’m not meant to be successful,” and “Success is for other people, not me.” For a long time, I believed financial success had to be hard, painful, or something I had to suffer for. But through my own healing work—emotionally, spiritually, and psychologically—I’ve come to understand that those beliefs were never mine to carry.
Doing this work while building my business was one of the most vulnerable things I’ve ever done. There were moments when I questioned everything—my worth, my vision, my ability to lead. But I kept showing up. I kept doing the work. I gave myself permission to heal and to receive the success I once thought wasn’t for me.
Now, I use everything I’ve learned—not just from my education and professional experience, but from my own life—to help others break free from the beliefs holding them back. Whether through therapy, coaching, or my upcoming masterclass, I’m here to remind people that healing and thriving can coexist—and that you don’t have to choose between being successful and being human.

Training and knowledge matter of course, but beyond that what do you think matters most in terms of succeeding in your field?
While training and education lay the foundation for success in this field, I believe the real keys to thriving go beyond credentials. For me, success has come from staying committed to always learning. The moment you think you know it all is the moment you start falling behind. I surround myself with people who are smarter than me in areas I’m still growing in—and I hire them. Collaboration and humility have taken me further than competition ever could.
Adaptability is also everything. The world changes fast, and I’ve learned to pivot with modernization, whether that’s evolving my services, leveraging new platforms, or meeting clients where they are. What matters most is staying deeply tuned in to what people need and want right now—and having the heart to truly listen and understand that.
Above all, I stay humble. Growth requires curiosity, courage, and a constant willingness to stretch beyond what’s comfortable. That mindset has been the biggest game-changer in both my personal and professional journey.
