Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Alexandra Copp. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alexandra, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today We’d love to hear about when you first realized that you wanted to pursue a creative path professionally.
I knew I wanted to pursue an artistic path professionally when I realized how expressing our creative spirit IS healing. Coming from a nursing background of 10 years and being somebody who sees energy, I began to observe how when we don’t express our unique creative nature and imagination the body can become sick. I became disheartened by seeing so many sick and suffering and wanted to get to prevent illnesses I saw in my patients.
I found that this process began in our childhood. The of hardening us and our cells, so I began working with children helping them express their spirits through movement, sound and art. The expression of our unique spirit generates a frequency that creates harmony in our cells. This frequency created when we weave our spirit or weave our life is a preventative medicine. It may be possible that when our cells dance to the harmony of our spirit there is not room for fear or control to attach to us, therefore there is not room for illness to attach to us.
Creating and expressing the self and the soul through artistic mediums allows our innocence to shine and innocence is something the world is in deep deep need of right now.
My art comes from a sound that turns into a movement and then I paint it into the world. It allows us to feel there is no separation between movement, sound, color and shape. They all are emanations of the creative force of life. My art often resembles a web. Perhaps these webs can help us remember that we are all connected, that there is a fabric of life that runs through every person, animal, plant and ray of sunlight. The webs I weave through expressing the truth inside of me.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
By trade I am a nurse of 10 years and a mystical person. I see the energetic fabric in people and it has informed much of how I connect to the world today.
I believe in the power of innocence and the magic within children. I help kids express their unique spirit through movement, sound and art. The expression of our innocence is tied to the health of our bodies. I became motivated to create a preventative medicine that allows kids to thrive in the world after seeing so much illness and wanting to prevent kids from experiencing this.
The frequency created when we express our unique creative spirit generates a harmony within our cells. When we stop doing this as we “grow”up our cells and our spirit may become hardened by our society telling us to fit in which shows up as disharmony. The disharmony allows the opportunity for disease to set in. So working with kids to cultivate, strengthen and express their creativity, imagination and innocence is preventative medicine.
Sensitive kids are here to thrive, to bring new ideas to the world. Their innocence and imaginations are needed deeply, their unique magic is their medicine and sharing this through art can be a beautiful way to do so.
This year I opened up my first space! The Rainbow Weavers, an artistic day camp and gallery for kids on Cape Cod. Here, kids learn how to express their creative spirits through large scale abstract art. The space turns into a gallery on the weekend for the public to view what the kids created during camp and feel the magic of innocence and imagination.
I often feel that our world doesn’t take children and their imaginations seriously. The truth is, our world won’t change until the wisdom of the child and the wisdom of innocence is respected and celebrated. They have important things to bring to the world and we would be smart to listen to what they have to say, to observe what they create and to learn from how they move.
I am an artist myself, expressing the philosophy of Life Weaving through my art, movement and sound. Art has been a place that does not limit the spirit. Art allows us to express the magic of our soul through color, sound and movement. Art may be the safest place I’ve ever known. I hope to empower the children of the world to express their spirits and to be the weavers of their own life.
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
It allows me to be free. To feel freedom. This is a gift I will always be grateful for – the home of art.
Is there mission driving your creative journey?
To help the children of the world feel their confidence, strength and shine!
