We recently connected with Alexandra Accardo and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Alexandra , thanks for joining us today. Let’s kick things off with your mission – what is it and what’s the story behind why it’s your mission?

Since I was a young girl, I had always dreamed of becoming an esthetician and owning my own business. The reason behind this aspiration stemmed from my personal struggles with skin issues and the dissatisfaction I experienced when visiting other spas and salons. None of the treatments or products seemed to work for my skin, and I was never able to truly understand its needs. Every facial I received felt generic and lacking the personal touch it deserved. Determined to change this, I enrolled in college in Poland to study esthetics and eventually traveled to New York City to complete my certification in 2005.

However, my dreams of becoming an esthetician had to be put on hold when I was blessed with the arrival of my three children, who were all born within 14 months of each other. Despite the privilege of being able to stay at home and care for my kids, I knew deep down that I would return to pursuing my dreams in the beauty industry. Over time, I worked with popular brands in the industry, primarily in medical spas, but I always felt dissatisfied with the results my clients achieved and the harsh approaches to skincare. I knew there had to be something more out there that aligned with my vision of what skincare should be.

Fortunately, fate intervened when I had the incredible opportunity to meet Joanna Czech, who would become my mentor and dear friend. Under her guidance, I spent months honing my massage techniques and delving into the world of non-invasive technologies such as microcurrents, cryotherapy, LED therapy, and ultrasound. Despite the challenges posed by the pandemic in 2020, I was fortunate enough to open my first one-room studio in Huntington, NY. As my clientele grew, I realized the need to expand, which led me to where I am today—Alexandra Accardo Studio in Huntington, NY, nearly two years later.

At Alexandra Accardo Studio, every facial is hyper-customized not only to meet each client’s skincare needs but also to accommodate their lifestyle. We take great pride in offering some of the world’s top luxurious skincare lines, including Biologique Recherche, ENVIRON, and Exquisite. In May 2023, we proudly announced our partnership with Joanna Czech Skin Care after a highly successful event hosted by the renowned celebrity event planner Michael Russo and Joanna Czech herself. We are now the only other facial studio in New York to carry her line while performing Joanna Czech’s result-driven treatments.

Specializing in customized facial treatments, Alexandra Accardo Studio has expanded its services to include body treatments, Dolce Glow spray tans (by Isabel Alyssa, a celebrity spray tanner), sugaring/waxing, lash and brow treatments, and makeup application. In response to our clients’ needs, we have also added injectables to our repertoire, with our master injector, Urszula Musik, providing expert care.

From its humble beginnings as a one-room studio, Alexandra Accardo Studio has grown into a beautiful storefront with three treatment rooms, a lounge area, and a team of four amazing women who share a passion for the beauty industry. In addition to myself, the team includes Gianna Valentinetti, the studio’s manager and esthetician specializing in facials, spray tans, and lash and brow services; Isabella Margiotta, our receptionist and junior esthetician; and Urszula Musik, our master injector RN.

I hope that anyone reading my story can see that dreams do come true with belief, hard work, and an unwavering determination, regardless of the circumstances.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.

As an esthetician, I have the privilege of working with a diverse range of women, spanning various age groups and skin types, each with their own unique skin goals. It is of utmost importance for me to thoroughly understand their individual aspirations and develop the best treatment plans and home skincare regimens to help them achieve those goals.

Unfortunately, in today’s age, social media has blurred the line between professional treatments and at-home skincare routines. There is an abundance of accessible products and tools that are meant to be used by trained professionals, but are now readily available for personal use. This trend has led to an increase in clients experiencing sensitive skin issues, over-exfoliation, and the misuse of powerful tools without proper knowledge.

One common example is the excessive over-exfoliation of the skin. Techniques such as dermaplaning, the use of acids, retinol, and scrubs can indeed provide benefits, but they must be employed correctly in order to obtain the promised results without causing harm to the skin. We understand the importance of educating our clients on the proper usage of their tools and products at home. We believe that knowledge is power when it comes to maintaining healthy and vibrant skin. Our team takes the time to guide our clients, ensuring they have a thorough understanding of how to utilize their skincare tools and products effectively. We provide detailed instructions, personalized recommendations, and valuable tips to optimize their at-home skincare routines. By empowering our clients with the right information, we enable them to make informed decisions and take better care of their skin in between their visits to our studio.
