We were lucky to catch up with Alexander Quezada recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alexander , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Can you talk to us about a project that’s meant a lot to you?
For me it was definitely my short film “COLORS” it was a passionate story of mine for over 2 years and it’s important to me cause it’s about the loss of my mom. I never got to know her and I saw how hard it was on my dad to raise 4 kids by himself. This story is about grief and how to find the peace in it.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Well honestly it started back in 2020 during the prime time of COVID with nothing to do I filmed myself with different clothing and started making skits. I started on kinemaster and gotten a eos rebel t7i canon camera for filming. I started my youtube channel in 2021 and pursued my dream as a YouTuber. It was a strong challenge to work my craft, lots of errors and technical issues but I gotten a lot better at it. In time I transitioned to become a filmmaker and began my passion to be a director. I started to make short films and my channel slowly began to grow with films such as HE’S HERE, NUMB, FOLLOWED, 8:00 and SUMMER DAYS I feel in love with making stories not only about my life but to grow and connect with people.
Is there mission driving your creative journey?
For me definitely wanting to connect to people. Life is amazing and can be also be stressful and hard sometimes. Times we can feel misunderstood, or alone, or feel like no one understands what we’re going through. I want to make films to help others and make them feel seen and feel understood.
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
A story for me would honestly be being in a group home for 13 months. It was honestly one of the most hardest moments of my life. I felt so alone and felt like giving up. But in my heart I knew I couldn’t cause I felt like there was more to this darkness and that I could help inspire people to never give up and that they’re not alone. In time I eventually was blessed into a foster family and I hope to make a movie about this experience to help the foster care community to help children be adopted and have homes.
