We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Alexander Patsos. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Alexander below.
Hi Alexander , thanks for joining us today. Can you tell us about a time that your work has been misunderstood? Why do you think it happened and did any interesting insights emerge from the experience?
I have had many experiences where people have made off-hand remarks or insults about my line of work and motivations for pursuing my career. When I tell people how much I love the creative process, some look at me cross-eyed, but that’s their issue, not mine. Historically, artists and creators have often been scrutinized and questioned, but this is a natural part of the journey. The truth is, I value collaborating with people creatively, and this is the main reason why I am in the film and music business. I genuinely love the work and enjoy being on set with a great production team or writing a song with someone in the studio.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I’m a New York-born, Nashville-based actor, musician, and occasional print and commercial model. Before Nashville, I spent a long time in New York City doing my best to make life happen in music and film. I did not start working in front of the camera (acting, commercial, and print) until a year or so before the pandemic. I visited Nashville in November of 2022 – the minute I got off the plane, I knew this town was my home. During this visit, I signed with Tribe Talent Management for regional commercial and print work and Lady Savage MGMT & PR to facilitate a music release – it was unreal how quickly things came together!

Have any books or other resources had a big impact on you?
I strongly advise all creative artists to study and practice Stoicism, a Hellenistic philosophy. It has been a game-changer for me in my personal and professional life, and I believe it can bring immense value to creatives from all walks of life. Marcus Aurelius has a quote that resonates with me deeply.
“Dwell on the beauty of life. Watch the stars, and see yourself running with them. Think constantly on the changes of the elements into each other, for such thoughts wash away the dust of earthly life.”
What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
Great question! I was very hard on myself when it came to my career and was not exercising patience, boundaries, and temperance. These three things are crucial for a lasting and healthy journey.
For boundaries, one must know when to refuse an opportunity that doesn’t align with your values or goals. In America, there’s often a cultural pressure to say “yes” to every opportunity, but this can ultimately harm your career.
Temperance is all about achieving a harmonious balance between your professional and personal life. It’s important to remember that your life doesn’t need to be put on hold just because you have career goals to pursue.
Patience is essential for artists. Progress takes time, often years. Consistent and gradual growth is the key to moving forward as a creative.
