We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Alexander Loveyko a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Alexander, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Let’s start big picture – what are some of biggest trends you are seeing in your industry?
One of the biggest trends I’m seeing in the entertainment industry is the explosion of independent creators. With platforms like TikTok, YouTube, and direct-to-fan distribution tools, artists now have unprecedented control over their work and are often the initial rights holders of valuable intellectual property. This shift creates both tremendous opportunities and significant risks. On one hand, creators can retain ownership and build sustainable careers without the traditional gatekeepers. On the other, many don’t realize the importance of registering their copyrights, structuring fair distribution deals, or protecting their royalties across multiple platforms and territories.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I got into the Entertainment industry when I joined ChaseLawyers because I wanted to be in a place where creativity and business truly intersect. I’d seen too many artists and creators lose out simply because they didn’t have someone in their corner who understood both the legal fine print and the fast pace of the entertainment world. At our law firm, I get to work with everyone from indie musicians who suddenly go viral to established names negotiating big catalog deals, and I love helping them turn those moments into lasting opportunities.
What I enjoy most is being a steady partner when things start moving quickly — whether that’s securing rights, untangling a contract, or making sure a viral hit doesn’t slip through the cracks. At the end of the day, my approach is pretty simple: protect the work, respect the art, and help clients build something sustainable from their talent.
What often sets ChaseLawyers apart is that we really do understand the creative side, not just the contracts. We’ve seen the highs, the risks, and the pressure artists face, and we pride ourselves on being accessible and clear with our clients. It’s not about drowning people in legal jargon — it’s about making sure they feel confident, informed, and empowered at every step. That’s the part of the work I’m most proud of.

We’d appreciate any insights you can share with us about selling a business.
While I haven’t personally sold a business myself, I’ve been deeply involved in guiding clients through major catalog and intellectual property brand sales — which, in many ways, are the creative world’s equivalent of selling a business. These deals often represent someone’s life’s work, so the stakes are incredibly high. I’ve seen that the most successful sales happen when an artist or songwriter has taken the time to organize their rights, maintain clean ownership records, and really understand the value of what they’re selling beyond just today’s revenue numbers.
One client in particular comes to mind — a songwriter with decades of hits under their belt who was approached by multiple buyers. At first, it seemed overwhelming: different offers, complicated terms, and the risk of signing away more than intended. We worked closely with them to evaluate not just the price, but also the long-term implications of each deal. In the end, we negotiated a sale that not only gave them financial security but also preserved certain rights and songs they cared most deeply about, excluding them from the deal. For me, the takeaway is clear: selling a catalog or a business is about more than cashing out — it’s about honoring the legacy of the work while making sure the business side sets the creator up for the future.

Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
I think my reputation has grown from consistently raising the standard of professionalism in every interaction I’m a part of. In entertainment, things move quickly — deals are struck overnight, opportunities appear out of nowhere, and one misstep can cost someone their breakthrough moment. That’s why I’ve made it a rule that no matter how big or small the deal, I bring the same level of preparation, transparency, and follow-through.
Clients know that when I step into a negotiation, my goal is to move things forward efficiently without ever sacrificing clarity or fairness. Whether it’s simplifying complex terms so a client feels empowered to make a decision, or keeping everyone at the table focused on closing instead of stalling, I try to be the steady hand that keeps things professional and productive. Over time, that consistency has built trust — not just with clients, but also with the teams, labels, and partners I interact with regularly. Deals close smoothly, relationships stay intact, and my clients walk away knowing they were well-represented. That’s ultimately how I’ve built my reputation: by getting things done, the right way.
