We recently connected with Alexander Denning and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Alexander thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
My business is ATG TV LLC, and what it stands for is Alexander the Great TV. How my company came to be and what it represents really comes from who I am as a person and what I have built over the past 5 years. Working hard to brand myself, as well as my company at the same time provided for myself something to showcase my work and dedicate to its image. While building my brand, I have searched out the many avenues I could provide most useful to those that walk in the shoes that I once has… & that falls into reentry efforts for ex-convicts, community support, activism,& so much more. Alexander the Great TV has turned from a simple idea of mine, into a in-house production company. We offer the finest work in film, photography, production, social media content creation, workshops, & many more aspects to the film & entertainment industry.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
I first got into the film & entertainment industry through modeling. Once I was represented through a talent agency, it was easier to network and get booked for commercials, tv roles, live appearances, etc. Having been inside prison for most of my 20’s (19-25 years old), I was a fresh face & eyes to the scene… and I believe that is what helped to push my career a little further, in addition to the talent I brought along. I feel like after being released from prison after all those years, I really had fuel to my fire in what I wanted to accomplish most … I think producers, casting agents, etc. could see that in me. This would only in return help me in what I would go on to accomplish and build through my branding.

Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
A moment in my business/ career life when I had to pivot was during the Covid-19 pandemic. It forced me to do a lot of things….in a time of sink of swim, I decided to swim. I was working as a waiter in a nice restaurant during the time, and as hours were cut on staff & I was doing a side-hustle of creating social media content, I found it an ideal time to take the leap into running my own business and not working toward someone else’s dream any longer. So, I jumped… quit my 9-to-5, and then found out running your own business means working longer. But, that was fine for me… I wanted something I could call my own. I jumped into gear on content creation and the consistency soon payed off for me. I would build up a media creation channel across Youtube, Tiktok, & other social media platforms by telling my story and educating the public on various topics.
To this day, I dont regret quitting my job… or any of the choices made- they brought me to the place I want to be.

How did you put together the initial capital you needed to start your business?
This is a great question, how did I initially fund my business venture? All my by myself. I invested solely into my business, created multiple revenue sources as outlets, & produced content that was not only engaging to my audience, but could relate and brought them further along with the information. I would say it would have been much easier with a team of support, which would include extra funding.
