We recently connected with Alexander Coulter and have shared our conversation below.
Alexander, appreciate you joining us today. Have you ever had an amazing boss, mentor or leader leading you? Can you us a story or anecdote that helps illustrate why this person was such a great leader and the impact they had on you or their team?
The best boss I’ve ever had would be myself. Whats interesting about being your own boss is that you have to answer yourself honestly about how much work you’re putting in. I’ve learned the most through trial by fire. Which has been hard but valuable lessons.

Alexander, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I was raised in a farming town 30 minutes east of Flint, Michigan. After graduating college with a Cinematic Arts & Broadcasting degree with a focus in Cinema Studies I was living in Metro-Detroit and working as a barista when one of the cafe investors who was a commercial and music video director noticed I was applying to a film festival on my break. They brought me onto some of my first productions. After a couple years as a PA I decided to move to Los Angeles Jan 2017. I have been involved in several different productions spanning from Reality TV to feature length films. If you are looking to film content in any capacity then I’ll be able to help.

Looking back, are there any resources you wish you knew about earlier in your creative journey?
The advice I would hear a lot is to hone in on a niche market or only be known for one thing such as editing. Why be a master of one when you can be a master of them all? I’ve also seen some people who are diligent workers stuck at an entry level position after 10 years. Some may be content with that but I think if you only focus on that and feel that your hard work will pay off you may become trapped in being known as only be able to do that position even though you have so much more potential.

Is there mission driving your creative journey?
I like to think that I can show other people who grew up in little pockets of the world people might not hear of that it’s possible to achieve a career you think is damn near impossible.
