We were lucky to catch up with Alexa Tokich recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Alexa, thanks for joining us today. Looking back, do you think you started your business at the right time? Do you wish you had started sooner or later
If I could go back in time I would have definitely started my business sooner. I had started doing photography about 7 and a 1/2 years ago and in the beginning you know we are all just learning and growing. Over the years of being self taught I progressed pretty quickly and I felt that I should start my business, but I never fully had the confidence in myself. Ive worked with many amazing and talented individuals. Many people throughout my journey supported me and believed in me more than I did in myself. During COVID it was a difficult time, but it gave me the opportunity to take time to reflect on my life and myself. I’ve grown a lot as a person and developed an elevated concept which inspired me to officially register my photography business, Tokich Studios. If I started sooner I think in the present I would have been a lot farther along in my career. Some advice I would have given myself is not to be afraid to take risks and always believe I’m yourself. I’m thankful that I’m there mentally and I look to the future with optimism.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
I’m a fashion and beauty photographer and I’ve been in the industry for about 7-8 years now. Ive worked in various parts of the industry from ecommerce to editorial publications. I believe in quality over quantity and always providing excellent service to my clients. I love being creative and create a fun environment.
Tokich Studios is a full service development agency that creates a complete portfolio. Tokich Studios has a beautiful private studio in dtla ready to create something special for you!
How do you keep your team’s morale high?
I believe that teamwork makes the dreamwork! It is crucial to be respectful to everyone you work with in any professional setting. Without a team you’re not able to deliver that high quality beautiful work. I love getting to know whoever I’m working with and develop a good relationship. The team I work with now are people that I’ve met on my journey that I’ve continously worked with over the years. We have great communication and respect for each other and what we can bring to the table.
What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
I think what helped my reputation within the industry was being consistent in my work. Always deliver high quality professional work and have a great attitude on set. The industry is big yet small all at the same time so word spreads quickly if you are someone that people would want to work with.
