Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Alexa Orth & Cadence Miller. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alexa Orth &, appreciate you joining us today. We’d love to hear the story of how you went from this being just an idea to making it into something real.
You know, it all started as an idea. One day Cadence and I were talking about the possibility of starting a true crime comedy podcast. We both knew we loved true crime and what can we say, we’re pretty funny too. After extensive research, we decided that we could do it! We instantly started purchasing the LLC, domain, hosting platform, equipment and many other things. With the equipment, I got lucky because Cadence had a podcast previously so she was able to hook it up with the mics. Since then though, we’ve purchased new mics through Shure – we highly recommend them! But the first couple of months revolved around a bunch of research to start the podcast, marketing on social media to get the word out there, and planning our schedule for recording the podcast.
Alexa Orth &, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
We are a true crime comedy podcast! We think our tag line tells our story perfectly: “Searching for something sinister? Join hosts Alexa and Cadence as they sip on something spiked while discussing your favorite true crime mysteries and short sinister stories. As you listen (and sip) along, they’ll dig deep into childhood upbringing’s, comedy, astrology and more.
We are most proud of the support we’ve received. We have 4.8 out of 5 starts on Apple Podcasts with 42 reviews. Although 42 may not sound like a lot, being near 5 stars warms our hearts. The fans make all of this hard work worth every second!
Are there any resources you wish you knew about earlier in your creative journey?
Oh my gosh, yes! We wish we would’ve invested in better microphones. We ended up going to the Podcast Movement in Dallas where we learned so much about the importance of audio. After purchasing new microphones from Shure, we’ve received even more 5 star reviews. If you’re thinking about starting a podcast, equipment and sound are key to success!
What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
For sure there is! I’d say our goal is to be ranked up there with Ashley Flowers from Crime Junkie. Our goal is to be one of the top true crime comedy podcasts in the business. Why not go big or go home?
