Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Alexa Goldie. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alexa, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Can you open up about a risk you’ve taken – what it was like taking that risk, why you took the risk and how it turned out?
I took a risk by moving to Nashville back in 2021. Back home in Ontario, Canada, I own a music school where I teach local students how to play the guitar, ukulele, piano and vocal lessons. In 2021, I had just graduated from University and started building up my teaching clientele. I had the opportunity to go to Nashville for a quick trip to do some writing and small writers rounds. Although I had a steady job at home and had just graduated with a degree, there was something pulling me to visit Nashville. After my quick trip to Nashville, I fell in love. 2 months after that trip, I packed my bags and moved to Nashville. This was a risk because I didn’t have a community of support in Nashville, I didn’t have a steady job, connections or a way to promise income at the time. Taking that risk was one of the best things I have ever done for my career. It forced me to truly learn how to write music, perform for all types of crowds and how to build relationships in a completely new place…a new country.

Alexa, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I am a Canadian country singer-songwriter from Kingston, Ontario.
I started singing when I was 10 years old; playing the role of the lead singer for 5 local rock bands.
At the age of 12, I started following my youthful dream of being a pop singer by spending time in Los Angeles writing and recording.
At 16 years old, I changed genres to country; the genre I was always truly supposed to be in.
I moved to Nashville in late 2021.
In 2023, I was named Artist of the Year and Record of the Year at the OMAs.
In 2024, I was nominated for Breakthrough Artist at the CMAO Awards, Semi-Finalist in the SiriusXM Top of the Country competition, Finalist in the Boots & Hearts Emerging Artist Showcase and opened up for Josh Ross, Jade Eagleson and Gord Bamford at some of Canada’s largest music festivals.

What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
My goal is to play the Grand Ole Opry stage. The moment I step into that circle, is the moment I know that I have made it. Ever since I was a little girl, I remember watching country legends like Carrie Underwood, Garth Brooks, Dolly Parton, Brad Paisley, Reba McEntire and many more perform on that stage (via YouTube) and feeling their energy and overwhelming emotions through the screen when they stepped foot into that circle. There is nothing that sparks up my creativity more than being at the Grand Ole Opry watching a show.

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
The most rewarding aspect of being an artist is watching the hard work i’ve put in, start to pay off. I think everyone knows that the music industry is not an easy one and it takes years of hearing no to get one yes. As an independent artist, it is the most rewarding when a fan comes up and tells you how they connected with your songs, or when you look out to the crowd and see people singing along to the words of your songs. All I have ever wanted to do is write and produce music that helps people through the trials of life. All of the hard days are erased by the rewarding moments, like hearing your song on the radio or being asked to play a festival.
