We recently connected with Alexa Fiffick and have shared our conversation below.
Alexa, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Can you open up about a risk you’ve taken – what it was like taking that risk, why you took the risk and how it turned out?
On 9/5/23, I opened the doors of my very own concierge medical practice. Considering I had just finished fellowship on 7/7/23, this was considered a huge risk to many people. However, as a Women’s Health Specialist and Board-Certified Family Physician, I knew that I needed to do something different in order to provide the kind of care my patients deserve. Thus, I partnered with Ms. Medicine, a national company that helps physicians start up their own private concierge practices. For me, this was a phenomenal fit, as the company has a strong focus on advancing women’s health, as do I. This model has allowed me to go from seeing 22+ patients per day to <10, and being able to spend 30-90 minutes in each visit. My patients are much happier, and so am I.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I’m Dr. Alexa Fiffick, DO, MBS, MSCP. I am a Board-Certified Family Physician and a Fellowship-Trained Menopause Specialist. I recently opened Concierge Medicine of Westlake in order to partner with my patients to prioritize their health and wellbeing.
I believe that by addressing health proactively, we can pave the way for a future filled with vitality and joy. Together, we’ll work on a personalized wellness plan that aligns with your unique needs and aspirations.
In particular, women’s health holds a special place in my heart. I am deeply committed to understanding the nuances of women’s well-being throughout various stages of life, from the excitement of youth to the wisdom of maturity. I provide care for many complex conditions, such as menopause, perimenopause, complex contraception, PMS/PMDD, PCOS, sexual health, vulvovaginal health, Whether it’s guiding you through milestones, providing support during hormonal changes, or addressing specific concerns, I’m here to listen, empower, and guide you.
We provide multiple services, including Concierge Primary Care, Specialty Women’s Health, Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine, and Women’s Health consults.
I also work as an advocate for advancing women’s health beyond reproduction, and am a Physician Executive Group member for Ms. Medicine, a physician expert for Menopause Mandate, a physician expert for Lets All Talk Menopause, and am a nominee for the Women of Influence for Go Red Cleveland.

If you could go back, would you choose the same profession, specialty, etc.?
Yes. Wholeheartedly, yes. I don’t ever have a doubt in my mind that I was meant to be a Women’s Health Physician/advocate.

Training and knowledge matter f course, but beyond that what do you think matters most in terms of succeeding in your field?
Listening to my patients is the number one most helpful action for being successful. At the end of the day, I may not always have the exact answer to solve a patient’s problem. However, if I listen to my patients, get to know them, and understand who they are and what their goals are, I am able to find the person that can help them, or work through the difficulties beside them.
