We were lucky to catch up with Alex Wilson recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alex, appreciate you joining us today. Let’s kick things off with your mission – what is it and what’s the story behind why it’s your mission?
I remember being told in my yoga teacher training that I would probably never be able to make a full living as a teacher unless I opened a studio.
As a yoga teacher and wellness professional with an entrepreneurial spirit, I never really felt satisfied with that, or the standard earning potential that came with teaching at traditional studios. So I created Ritual Space to be a studio that works differently.
We offer teachers who understand how to market and grow their business the space to teach their own classes, their own way. They charge their students what they want, and keep all their earnings. Teachers pay a low, weekly fee for each of their classes, and everything else they make, they keep. This gives teachers the ability to increase their earning potential and truly make a living as a yoga teacher.
After creating this space, I realized how lonely being an entrepreneur could be, and how having a community for other spiritual entrepreneurs really helped.
So we decided to expand into a second space where others spiritual/wellness based entrepreneurs could work, meet with clients and connect with us! Mental health counselors, Tarot Readers, Reiki Practitioners, and more. Having a shared space to work, teach and connect makes the entrepreneurial life less lonely.
And that’s why our mission is to create space where wellness and spiritual professionals can work, teach, and connect!

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Like most alternative wellness pros, I got into my line of work (teaching yoga, performing reiki, offering Ayurvedic wellness coaching, etc) because I benefited from all these things in really big ways. Aside from that, working for someone else in a traditional 9-5 setting never really felt right to me. So I started my professional path in the world of alternative wellness and I have never looked back.
Since then, I’ve found more ways to help people connect with wellness and lifestyle practices that improve their overall wellbeing and quality of life. I created the SWFL Wellness Fair to help promote wellness and give other wellness pros the opportunity for more exposure to the community. I opened Ritual Space to give yoga teachers and other spiritual/wellness entrepreneurs a place to build their businesses, do their work, and connect with other professionals in the industry.
And even now, I am always on the look out for new ideas and opportunities to open people up to holistic and alternative lifestyle-based wellness practices to improve their lives.

How did you put together the initial capital you needed to start your business?
My ability to create my business would not have been possible without the funding I needed to get started, but I actually didn’t make the decision to start a business until I already had the funding for it
It all started after the onset of the pandemic. Being cooped up in my house for so long with no job (because all the yoga studios were closed), nothing to do, and no one to see left me feeling stir-crazy, and in need of expansive freedom. So when things started getting better with the pandemic, and all of a sudden the housing market skyrocketed, I decided to sell my house and travel the country.
I managed to sell my house for twice my original purchase price. Then I bought a truck and a camper, and set off on my adventure. After three beautiful months of complete and total freedom, I was ready to come home. And with all the extra money burning a big hole in my pocket, I decided to start my business.
Not exactly your traditional way of doing things, but it’s what worked for me!

Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
I own my reputation in the community and with my market to my annual wellness fair. I started hosting a wellness fair for my community before starting my business. I was a yoga teacher and wellness practitioner looking to expand my reach, and I recognized that others needed help expanding their reach as well. So I got started with planning, organizing, and executing the SWFL Wellness Fair with the intention of connecting people to local businesses, and local businesses to their target market. And it went beautifully!
In organizing these events, I’ve had the opportunity to connect with so many amazing business owners, community members, and wellness professionals. These connections were the fodder I needed to build my current business, Ritual Space.
I honestly feel like everything has sort of just fallen into place with every heart-based decision I’ve made over the years. And I think I actually owe my success and my reputation to the fact that I openly and courageously listen to my heart every day.
