We recently connected with Alex Solca and have shared our conversation below.
Alex, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. What do you think it takes to be successful?
I think in order to be successful you have to be very stubborn and persistent. Most important, you have to be very passionate about what you are trying to achieve and enjoy the ride. No matter what I was pursuing in LA, my biggest weapon has always been persistence and I never gave up.
I’ve seen people with more talent than myself give up at their first roadblock.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I offer Photography Services… I mostly specialize in Wedding, Engagement, Family, Music photography because I am a very social person and I enjoy meeting new people. I discovered photography when I was seventeen years old. At the point I was a lazy teenager with no purpose or clue about what to do in my life.
I asked my mom if I could borrow her camera and I immediately realized that I wanted to dedicate my life to photography,
Discovering Photography was a life changing event and it totally transformed my personality in many positive ways.
It’s been a long satisfying journey and, if I would go back, I would immediately do it again!
I think what sets me apart is that I am very consistent with my work quality.
I always try to turn every job into an event and the most fun experience for myself and my clients. I don’t go for the ‘cookie cutter” approach.
To me, every job is unique and special and every client deserves something creative and unique as much as possible.
I am proud that I was able to develop a lot of long lasting work relationships and that most of my jobs come from referrals.

Are there any resources you wish you knew about earlier in your creative journey?
I went to a very creative photography school, so everything was focused on creativity, technique, gear etc but nobody really taught me about how to run a business properly, how to handle your accounting, taxes etc. So that was an initial big challenge…
I think my life would have been a tot easier if I had that knowledge from the beginning instead of learning on the spot.
Also, we didn’t have the internet and our best friend “Google”.
Right now it’s so easy to basically find some cool free instructional videos on YouTube etc.

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
I think the most rewarding aspect of being an artist or creative is that you don’t really feel like you have a job: you are having fun trying to create something new every time. Also, you are in a situation where you have to be open minded and ready to be inspired by anything. You get into your own “zone” and and it feels amazing!
