We recently connected with Alex Roy and have shared our conversation below.
Alex, appreciate you joining us today. What’s the best or worst investment you’ve made?
The best in investment I have ever made was investing in DJing.I choose to Dj because of my love for music, dancing, and creating experiences for others with the power of sound. Several events offer special moments. An example would be weddings that bring families together. Birthdays that celebrate a new milestone. Perhaps even playing an opening set at a concert sets the tone for the headliner to rock the stage. Each and every one of these moments is a quick reminder of the ” Why” in which I do this and which I took the risk on with investing.
When you first embark on a new hobby sometimes we are uncertain of how it will take off in the long run. I would be honest and say at first it seems like the goal is quite the stretch as success does not hit early on, however with learning as you go and embarking on those challenges we are then taught that with persistence and patience comes great rewards.
Take a chance you never know what you will discover in the end!
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
My name is Alex Roy from Tampa Fl and I am the owner of Alex Roy Events Professional Dj Entertainment. I have been in business for 10 years and provide DJ services for clients domestic and international. Throughout my career I have had several opportunities to DJ all sorts of events. My company provides entertainment for weddings, birthdays, anniversaries, nightlife, bar & bat mitzvahs, holiday parties, sporting events and more. Recently I have had the pleasure of working with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as their official gameday DJ, in which I also was asked to come back and DJ again this season. My time spent in college I was the resident DJ at Florida Atlantic University working with the on campus radio station FAU Owl Radio. There I had the opportunity to perform for major concerts with big names such as 21 Savage, Juicy J, Waka Flocka, T-Pain and Big Baby Dram. Since graduating college, I have put a major focus on weddings in which is one of my favorite events to entertain. The power of love is so special and for a DJ to be apart of a couple and their love story is truly something amazing. I have now completed over 150 weddings in my career. My style is quite unique as I bring a high energy club dj sound to mobile events for the ultimate customer experience. In my outside time, education is very important to me as I recently completed my Masters in Business Administration in which I now plan to pursue a PHD in Higher Education. I am very proud of not only my education and my business but my personal development over the years in setting goals and achieving them.
Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
Marketing on social media and word of mouth were my top 2 areas which increase my business exposure. Instagram has become quite the social media powerhouse in the last several years with various type of capabilities to promote a business. An example has been instagram stories, which I use heavily to showcase events, include testimonials, as well as promote new products.
Word of mouth spreads like wildfire once people get to talking about your business and their positive experiences. In the past I have created a website which houses other digital content and information in regards to my services, however clients spread the word to their peers which ultimately generates new clients for events.
How do you keep in touch with clients and foster brand loyalty?
It is important to keep a relationship with your clients new and past. This is done by different forms of communication which is appealing in regards to the business relationship. For my new clients, Its the first consultation call which I learn more about their style and what they are looking for when it comes to their event. The next is bi monthly checkups or following on social media to receive updates on business products. Last would be ensuring to have a relatable and personal connection with an interest in their lives not just the business relationship.
For past clients just always ensuring they remember the great experience your brand was able to offer. I do this by thank you cards after events which let clients know that we appreciate their business. I also invite my clients to be apart of a special email list with updates on new products as well as upcoming mix shows. This builds the brand loyalty and also demonstrates that even after business is finished they will always be a special entity in the contribution of my success.
