We recently connected with Alex Romero and have shared our conversation below.
Alex, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Let’s kick things off with your mission – what is it and what’s the story behind why it’s your mission?
Our mission is to help businesses bring their marketing projects to life—smoothly, strategically, and with clarity and efficiency. Whether it’s launching a new campaign, managing content workflows, or coordinating creative teams, we’re all about making things happen, the right way. As a bilingual (English/Spanish) project manager, I bridge gaps in communication and bring clarity across diverse teams and audiences, making sure everyone’s on the same page—no matter the language.
It wasn’t until I joined the Carbon Stories family that I realized my passion for bringing people together, working with different teams, helping friends solve problems, seeing projects come to life, that I accepted my role as a PM for the company. Each project I’ve worked is meaningful because they each have their own set of problems that we can solve as a team, they have unique experiences that I can go through, I get to be a part of projects that make a difference in this world.
My parents migrated to the United States when they were young and they taught me Spanish when I was a young boy. Having the opportunity to be on projects where I can speak both languages has had such a positive impact on my career because projects can move forward and can stay on track.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I’m a bilingual (English/Spanish) marketing project manager with a passion for turning creative ideas into well-executed campaigns. It all started with me sitting at a local restaurant in GR and some high school fiends walking while doing a photoshoot. They talked to me about a block party that the company was hosting. I say “Cool, where is this block party going to be?” they both say “Carbon Stories”. I had never heard of a “marketing agency”. I didn’t even know what that type of business existed. The first impression of Carbon Stories and the team (at that time) was mind-blowing! I had never been around a group of young creatives that inspired me so much. I knew immediately that I wanted to be a part of the team. I didn’t know what I wanted to do but I pulled Erik, the creative director / my brother to the side and I told him I wanted to join the team. He saw the potential in me and told me to come back around and we would figure something out. As he got to know me and he saw the type of person I am he knew that the role of a PM would be perfect. So I always say I didn’t start out in marketing, but I’ve always been drawn to the intersection of creativity and structure. Early on, With the help of Carbon Stories, I realized I had a knack for organizing chaos, connecting people, and making things happen behind the scenes—so when I discovered project management, especially within the marketing world, everything just clicked.
Over the years, I’ve worked with businesses of all sizes—from scrappy startups to more established brands—helping them bring their marketing initiatives to life. Whether it’s launching a product, running a social media campaign, managing content calendars, or coordinating cross-functional teams, I step in to make sure everything runs smoothly, on time, and with clarity.
What I offer goes beyond task-tracking. I bring strategy, communication, and problem-solving to the table. Clients come to me when they’re juggling too many moving parts and need someone who can bring order to the process without stifling creativity. I translate big visions into manageable steps, align teams, and keep things moving—without burnout or bottlenecks.
What sets me apart is my ability to work across cultures and languages. Being bilingual means I can communicate effectively with diverse teams and clients, bridge language gaps, and manage projects in both English and Spanish seamlessly. This has opened up amazing opportunities to work on multicultural campaigns and with international teams, and I love that aspect of my work.
What I’m most proud of is the trust my clients place in me. I’ve been told I bring a sense of calm and direction to fast-paced, often messy environments—which I take as a huge compliment. I truly care about the people I work with, and I think that shows in how I manage relationships as much as I manage timelines.
If you’re looking for someone who can help you bring structure to your creative process, manage your marketing projects with care and precision, and help your team thrive—let’s connect. I’m here to help you get things done, the smart way.
How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
One of the biggest pivots in my journey came when I decided to step out on my own and pursue life as an independent project manager. I had the privilege of working with Carbon Stories, and that experience truly shaped me. Being surrounded by such a passionate, creative team inspired me to get better—not just at my craft, but as a leader and collaborator. Watching how they built something meaningful from the ground up gave me the confidence to chase my own dream.
It wasn’t an easy decision to step away, but it felt like the right next step in my growth. What made it easier is that we’re still family. There’s still so much love and respect between us, and I carry that support with me in everything I do. That pivot taught me that you can grow, evolve, and explore new paths while still honoring where you came from.
Do you have any insights you can share related to maintaining high team morale?
My biggest piece of advice for managing a team and maintaining high morale is to lead with patience and emotional awareness. Projects, especially in marketing, can get stressful, and as a leader, you need to recognize that emotions are always in play. Sometimes things don’t go as planned, and people might get frustrated or overwhelmed. Being able to stay calm, listen, and offer support is key.
It’s about creating an environment where people feel heard and valued, even when challenges arise. A little empathy goes a long way in keeping the team motivated. Also, I believe in celebrating small wins—acknowledging the effort and progress, not just the end results. It reminds everyone that we’re in this together and that every step forward matters.
Ultimately, high morale comes from trust. When your team trusts that you have their back, and that you’ll be there through the ups and downs, they’ll work harder and stay engaged. It’s about creating a culture where people feel safe to be themselves, share ideas, and know that their contributions are meaningful.
