Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Alex Nahai. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alex, appreciate you joining us today. Please tell us about starting your own firm and if you’d do anything different knowing what you know now.
Establishing my own firm was both an exhilarating and daunting endeavor. The idea first took root while I was working as the CEO of a technology investment fund. I observed a gap in the market for a law firm that could provide specialized legal services to startups without charging them exorbitant big law rates. The first step was to thoroughly research and plan the our structure, services, and market positioning.
One of the biggest challenges was achieving scalability while still being able to be present for all my clients. I also had to recruit a team that shared my vision and values.
If I could do anything differently, I would have focused even more on building a robust online presence from the outset. Digital marketing and online client engagement have become crucial in today’s market.
My advice for a young professional considering starting their own firm is to be prepared for the unexpected and to build a strong support network. Surround yourself with mentors and advisors who can provide guidance and perspective. Be patient and persistent, as success in this field requires both.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?

I am most proud of the trust and long-term relationships we have built with our clients, many of whom are industry leaders. Our goal is to provide tailored solutions that align with our clients’ business objectives.
What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?
The most effective strategy for growing my clientele has been just delivering good results for our clients. In the early days of establishing my firm, I focused heavily on understanding the unique needs of my clients. This approach not only helped me secure initial clients but also led to long-term partnerships and referrals.
Also, investing in a robust online presence and utilizing digital marketing strategies has been crucial. By ensuring that my firm is easily accessible and visible online, we’ve been able to reach a broader audience and attract clients who value the specialized expertise we offer.
Ultimately, the combination of personalized service and a strong digital presence has been key to the firm’s growth.
What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
One of the key factors that helped me build my reputation was my commitment to understanding the unique needs and challenges of my clients. By consistently trying to deliver personalized work product, we earned the trust our clients. Additionally, continuous learning and being involved in professional organizations helped us stay at the forefront of industry developments.
