We recently connected with Alex Mauricio and have shared our conversation below.
Alex, appreciate you joining us today. Before we get into specifics, let’s talk about success more generally. What do you think it takes to be successful?
I truly think that authenticity is the main ingredient to acheiving success! Real Estate is a social profession. What we do isn’t rocket science but it is very important! One of the main ways we can attract more clients is by earning their trust! In addition to them wanting to be certain that we take our jobs seriously and that we truly care about their goals, they also want to know that we are real people, beyond our profession! I like to share my hobbies, my interests, my family life, my pets…as much as possible, with my clients, so that they get a full snapshot of who I am and what my true character is! In my opinion, I think it is vital for my clients to like me, as a person! If they like me as a person, that is more than half the battle of earning their business and future referrals! Being REAL is the easiest way to success in Real Estate!

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Real Estate has been a part of my life, in some form, since I was a kid! My Dad worked as a sub-contractor for Pulte Homes and both parents became private lenders after retiring. So, I kind of grew up in the industry! Before I made the jump to Real Estate, I worked in Advertising Sales, the Music Industry and Property Management. My job as a leasing consultant, in Los Angeles, is what re-ignited my interest in Real Estate! When I moved back to Texas, with my wife, I wanted to take my career to the next level so I started inquiring about obtaining a Texas real estate license. When I moved back to Texas, I was also very determined for us to own a home! My own goal for homeownership definitely fueled my desire to help others achieve their home goals as well! Over the years I have been fortunate to help over 150 individuals and families buy, lease and sell their homes, in not only 1 but 2 states! 4 years into my career I was extremely proud to expand my Real Estate services to sunny Florida! Today, I get to travel back and forth, between the 2 most moved to states in the U.S and I absolutely love it! As part of my expansion, I have been able to grow a trustworthy team, who I call my “partner agents”. My partner agents serve as my “boots on the ground”, whenever I am working from another market! My clients feel very well taken care of and I feel extremely blessed to be one of the few agents around who can serve people’s housing needs in multiple markets! I emphasize, to my clients, the value of being a multi-state agent! For my sellers, I have 2 niche markets I can advertise their listing in! And because I am licensed in the 2 most moved to states, I have a huge network of agents, located in the markets, where potential out of state buyers are moving from. I can advertise listings to these agents, which is another form of niche marketing most agents don’t have access to or think about! For my buyers, I am able to offer both one-on-one advising and the luxury of team support. Depending on whether I am in Texas or Florida, my buyers may have the luxury of not only working with me but also may be working with my entire team! My goal is always to make my clients feel as if they are my main priority!
Over the years, I have not only sold homesteads but also investment properties! I am blessed to own several income producing properties in both Texas and Florida. I have put in the work, gone through the trial and error and found the recipe for success for both long term and short term rentals! With a wide range of real estate experience, I like to think of myself as the “Home Goals Expert”!

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
When I first began my career in Real Estate, I kept hearing all of the negatives. I kept getting questioned…”it’s a lot of work, are you sure you’re up for it?”…”you are more of an introvert, this career may be better for extroverts!”…”you know how agents get paid right?” I entered the industry feeling a bit defeated and I hadn’t even shown my first house yet! But I quickly changed my mindset and went in with a mentality of “no pressure”. I promised myself that no matter how tough it gets, I am not going to quit. My main goal was to do ME…not what everyone else was doing! I took a note from my days in the music industry…if I stay true to myself, do what comes naturally to me and work hard…the rest will follow! And it did! Within my first month on the job, I got 3 rental clients leased and 1 closing on the books! And the rest was history!

What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?
The power of the internet is boundless! One of the most effective ways I have been able to grow is by utilizing social media! Platforms like Facebook and Instagram have helped me subliminally stay in front of my client base and has also helped me get in front of potential clients who would never have the opportunity to meet in person otherwise!
Posting regularly, whether it be photos or videos, I am able to spread my messages to an entire audience. Folks see that I am working, that I am helping others reach their home goals! For friends, family and acquaintances, it’s an instant reminder of who I am and what I do! For brand new followers, they see what I am doing and trust begins to form! Social media is a fantastic nurturing tool for me! I use it the way I want to, I have fun with it…and it’s free!
